Ken/Dreamhouse Adventures (2025)

Ken Carson is a supporting character in Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures. He is voiced by Ritesh Rajan as a teenager, and Liam Ramos as a child. Ken has been best friends with Barbie ever since they became neighbors almost ten years ago. Ken lives with his parents in Malibu, California, and he attends Golden Beach High.

Story[]

Pre-Dreamhouse Adventures[]

In "Welcome to the Dreamhouse!", it is revealed that Barbie and Ken met almost 10 years earlier. The Roberts family moved next door to Ken, and then Ken and Barbie became best friends.

In "Time Will Tell", it is revealed that when Barbie and Ken were in 3rd grade, they had a "detective agency." Barbie says they were the best 9-year-old detectives in Malibu, and they called themselves the Roberts-Carson Detective Agency.

Season 1[]

In "Welcome to the Dreamhouse!, Ken helps the Roberts to move into their new Dreamhouse. George wants to use a mummy as a decoration. The house starts to malfunction and the Roberts' neighbors, the Reardon family, have the Roberts' moving van towed. Ken thinks the mummy has cursed them, but George says the curse isn't real. Margaret discovers that the Dreamhouse was malfunctioning because a squirrel chewed wires in the house's access panel. Ken helps to catch the squirrel and the Roberts get settled in their new Dreamhouse.

In "Clubhouse (Remix)", it is Chelsea's birthday. As a present, her older sisters want to redecorate Chelsea's clubhouse, with help from Barbie's friends. They leave the clubhouse by the curb while they look for decorations, so a garbage truck takes the clubhouse. Ken helps to distract Chelsea while Barbie and her friends finds the clubhouse. They take the clubhouse home and redecorate it, and Chelsea says it's the best present ever.

In "Nobody's Cupcake", Barbie competes in an extreme baking show called Bake 'til You Ache. Her rival is Tammy Bounceway, a rising social media lifestyle influencer. Ken watches in the audience to support Barbie. Tammy cheats during the show, but Barbie wins with help from her family in the audience.

In "The Great Pioneer Adventure", George asks Ken to film a documentary of the Roberts living like American pioneers for the weekend. They give people Ken's phone number so they can be contacted through him. The next day, Ken goes to watch sports but comes back so Margaret can speak to her co-worker. Margaret has to make a delivery to her office, but there is a traffic jam. Barbie and Skipper use a horse to get Margaret's delivery to work on time, and then Barbie tells Ken and everyone else about it around a campfire.

In "Baby Sister Babysitter", Barbie is supposed to babysit but she wants to see a movie with her friends. George suggests that Skipper babysit instead. Skipper is left alone with the kids she is babysitting, so Barbie worries about her. Barbie goes home to spy on Skipper and sees that there are no lights on. Barbie phones Ken and asks if he has power, but accidentally hangs up after dropping a ladder. Ken thinks intruders are trying to break into the Dreamhouse, so he goes there with a bat. He bumps into Barbie, who admits she didn't trust Skipper.

In "The Roof Fairy", Chelsea tells Barbie about a the Roof Fairy. Barbie says she isn't real, and then feels guilty, so she tries to bring the Roof Fairy to life for Chelsea. Barbie, Skipper and Stacie dress Ken up as the Roof Fairy, and tell him to go on the roof with DJ, who is dressed in a tuxedo to look like a penguin. DJ gets distracted by Blissa, so Ken doesn't make it onto the roof in time before they bring Chelsea outside. They see the real Roof Fairy on the roof and then Chelsea goes to bed, happy that the Roof Fairy exists.

Season 2[]

In "Balancing Act", Ken is training to be a lifeguard. To help him train, Skipper and Stacie use shark hand-puppets to attempt "shark attacks" on Ken. He agrees to clean their room if they can successfully do a shark attack. Barbie gives up her father-daughter tradition of spending the equinox with her dad so that Chelsea can do it instead. Barbie feels sad, so she asks Ken for advice. He tells Nikki, Teresa Renee and Daisy about how Barbie is feeling, and they all have a pool party at the Dreamhouse. Skipper and Stacie do a successful shark attack on Ken, so he has to clean their room the next day.

In "Life Can Be a Dream", Barbie can't decide what career she wants in the future because there are so many possibilities. She has a dream where she is experiences many different careers, such as being a mayor of a town. Ken is in the dream and he helps Barbie to save the town.

In "Trey Is for Horses", Chelsea wants to raise funds start a school that will teach puppies how to read. Chelsea wants to get donations quickly, so she does a garage sale. Chelsea asks people for items she can sell. Margaret gives her a kitchen gadget to remove fuzz from peaches. Ken gives Chelsea a broken lawn gnome. At the garage sale, Margaret buys the lawn gnome and Ken buys the peach fuzz gadget. Chelsea thanks everyone who bought things.

In "Time Will Tell", Ken and his friends do a dare to take part in Dr. Morton Rise's escape room. Renee and Daisy say that Barbie and Ken work well together and think alike. Barbie tells the viewer that she and Ken are just best friends and nothing more. Barbie and Ken get separated from the others. Whenever something romantic happens, Barbie reminds the viewer that she and Ken are just friends. Ken and his friends all find clues in the escape room and manage to solve it.

In "Putts for Pups", Chelsea wants to teach puppies how to read, but she doesn't have money to buy them books. Chelsea decides to hold a mini golf charity event to get book donations to start the first ever puppy library. Ken helps her to set up the mini golf course. They want to put the 9 holes in front of the 9 houses in the neighborhood, but the Reardons don't want anyone on their lawn. Ken and Barbie help Chelsea complete the tournament without stepping on the Reardons' lawn.

In "Pied Pupper", Barbie attaches a camera to Honey's collar so Chelsea can film a "Day in the Life of a Dog" video for school. Additionally, Barbie helps Ken with ideas for a talent show, and she also bakes health bars for Nikki's bistro scooter business. Barbie struggles to multi-task but she doesn't want to ask for help. She ends up too busy to help Ken with ideas for his talent show, so he comes up with an idea on his own. Barbie is glad he isn't disappointed she couldn't help him.

In "A Day at the Beach", Ken is releasing rescued sea turtles by using a speedboat. Barbie and Trey get stranded on a rock at the beach and Barbie's phone dies. Renee and Daisy worry about Barbie and tell Ken they can't reach her phone. They tell Ken and he looks for Barbie. Trey and Barbie use Morse code to signal "S.O.S." Ken finds them in his speedboat and throws them life rings. He takes them back to land and Trey doesn't thank him.

In "A Delicate Situation", Skipper and Stacie put wheels on socks. Stacie loses her balance while skating and bumps into Ken. Renee later bumps into Ken while she is skateboarding, and Ken says he is having bad luck.

Season 3[]

In "Virtually Famous", Barbie gets "vlogger's block" and needs help thinking of vlog ideas. Ken and her other friends help her to film a vlog, and it goes viral. Teresa becomes obsessed with making more viral videos. Barbie finds it hard to be honest that she's not having fun chasing internet fame. Ken can tell that something is wrong with Barbie, but he is unable to talk to her because Teresa wants him to film videos. Barbie eventually tells Teresa the truth, and they all film a lip dub video. Ken takes part, and then Barbie's vlogs return to the classic format.

In "All Dogs Go to the Beach", Poppy uses her connections to ban dogs from the beach. This will affect Nikki's new dog-walking business and Barbie won't be able to bring Taffy to the beach. Barbie and Nikki are unhappy about the dog ban, so Nikki runs for office with Barbie as her campaign manager. Ken helps to film Nikki's campaign commercial. Ken also goes door-to-door with Chelsea, but the Reardons visited everyone first and so Ken and Chelsea don't get good responses and Ken is bitten by a dog. After a debate between Nikki and Poppy goes wrong, Nikki loses by one vote. However, Poppy is overheard insulting the voters. To avoid a recall election, Poppy pretends to love dogs and reverses the dog ban.

In "Room Swap", Barbie doesn't sleep well because her sisters are arguing and the Reardons are doing construction on their house. The construction displaces some ants, and Chelsea leads more to the Dreamhouse using sugar. Ken greets Barbie, but she's so tired that she gets surprised and falls down. Ken helps her up and she explains her dilemma. The Dreamhouse gets infested with ants, so Ken recommends Bruno Romanoff, a TV personality who uses human repellent service.

In "Getaway and Got Away", Ken gets offered a summer job as a lifeguard at Relax-o-Rama, a new spa resort. He gives Barbie and her friends free passes. When they arrive, they meet the owner, Lucinda Crawford. The spa's pool is under construction, so Ken is tasked with babysitting Lucinda's grandson, Grayson. Grayson doesn't want a babysitter, so he gives Ken a hard time. Grayson likes doing magic illusions and doesn't want to try new things. Ken tries showing Grayson how to play tennis, but the tennis ball launcher goes haywire. Lucinda thinks Ken was using Grayson as target practice, so she fires Ken. After Barbie compared babysitting to lifeguarding, Ken thinks if he's not a suitable babysitter, he won't be a good lifeguard. Barbie encourages him. Grayson sneaks off and gets stranded on a mountain. Barbie helps Ken to rescue Grayson, and Lucinda offers him a lifeguarding job after seeing how responsible and brave Ken is.

In "Barbie Roberts: Undercover Mermaid Part 1", Barbie goes to a tropical island with her friends and family. Ken watches Taffy, Honey, DJ and Rookie while the Roberts are away.

In "A Dog's Day in Court", Barbie, Ken and Chelsea help Nikki with her pet business (Watkins' Woofs, Walks and Washes). Some dogs run over to the Reardons and give Trey fleas. This inspires a plan by Poppy to make the Roberts move away. The Reardons release fleas in the neighborhood and cause a 3-mile wide flea infestation. While the houses are being fumigated, there is an official city order that there can be no animals on the premises. Poppy rents several animals and has them delivered to the Dreamhouse. While the animal inspector is at Ken's house, Barbie asks Ken to stall the inspector, and Ken agrees without asking why. He assumes Barbie will explain later. Barbie and her sisters try to hide the animals, but the inspector catches them. He says the Roberts have the right to appear before the city council and plead their case. Ken watches in the courtroom as Barbie finds a animal rental receipt and a witness (the person who delivered the animals) to prove that Poppy is to blame. Poppy resigns from the city council and the Roberts are saved from being evicted. Later, Ken dances with the Roberts at a block party.

Go Team Roberts! Season 1[]

In "Magical Mermaid Mystery: Part 1", Ken and his friends get summer jobs at a water park named Oceans Extreme. Ken is the newest junior lifeguard. Barbie's family goes on vacation to Costa Rica so George can film a whale documentary. Ken finds a baby whale that has gotten separated from its pod while migrating south. Ken gets asked to test the surfing simulator at Oceans Extreme, and he is going to be in a musical at work. His friends are also going to be in a musical that their boss, Darcy, has written. The musical is about a legend involving a mermaid who leads rare whales into the secret cave. While the Roberts are away and Barbie is busy with work, Trey wants to have a party at the Dreamhouse. Trey digs a hole from his backyard to the Dreamhouse so he can sneak in. Darcy goes missing, so Barbie worries about her. Ken sees the puppies sleeping on his front porch, so he brings them to Dreamhouse. Barbie thanks Ken and wonders how they got out.

Physical Appearance[]

Ken is a teenage boy with blond hair, blue eyes and light skin. He usually wears a grey and blue t-shirt, dark gray skinny jeans, and dark blue and white sneakers.

In "Welcome to the Dreamhouse!", Ken temporarily wears a red and white American football helmet. Also, he briefly has bright pink hair after accidentally dyeing it.

In "The Roof Fairy", Ken dresses as the Roof Fairy. His costume is a purple mop head as a wig, a sparkly pink dress, large pink wings, and pink flip-flops.

In "Balancing Act", Ken wears a white t-shirt, red shorts and black flip flops. He temporarily has yellow sunscreen on his nose and cheeks. In "Trey Is for Horses", Ken wears this outfit again with the yellow sunscreen.

In "Trey Is for Horses", Ken wears a black cycling helmet with a blue chin strap while he rides his bike.

Personality[]

Ken is friendly, helpful and he loves everything ocean-related. His hobbies include surfing and beach combing, and he wants to become a lifeguard. He also likes skinny jeans and watching American football. Ken always supports Barbie and he understands her well, so they work well as a team. He has a crush on her.
