Tweetsie Railroad is a family-friendly park that offers train rides, amusement park attractions, live shows, and a petting zoo. Visitors can ride on the chair lift and enjoy various activities such as visiting Santa's gingerbread house or making s'mores at the station. During Christmas time, the train is adorned with magical lights that make for an enchanting experience. One downside to visiting during this time is the limited food options available on site with only one restaurant serving hot dogs or pizza.

Just created a new Christmas family tradition! Tweetsie Railroad is a great way to cap a winter weekend in Boone! We loved the train and the ride through the lights... but were very surprised and excited by all the other activities to do during our visit! There are fun rides, shops, a carroling show, and plenty of visits to do, like gingerbread men and of course Santa! Fun experience, we look forward to many trips for years to come!

We visited Tweetsie for the first times since childhood. It was fun but overpriced. $60 per adult! Light shows were okay, train ride was fun, stores were nice, and lots of photo opportunities. It was a group activity, otherwise I probably wouldn’t go since I don’t have children. Dress warm for winter rides. Train cars are open air.

A great place for families, especially with younger children! Much more affordable and family friendly than other, larger amusement parks.Parking is FREE, it isn't too terribly busy unless a major holiday, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. We visit here from Florida once or twice each year and our now 5 year old daughter loves it. No real thrill rides or super fast, looping roller coasters here, just good, old fashioned fun with live shows and delicious fudge and a calm, laid back vibe.

Had a great trip to Tweetsie Railroad today. It has great rides and entertainment for younger kids and the adults in our group had a great time too. Would like to brag especially on the young man working the swings at the top. Thanks to him I was able to let my special needs child actually successfully ride the swings, and he really put us at ease about it. Overall a great trip, definitely recommend for small kids and definitely recommend parents with special needs children to give it a try! Also my pics are the view from the Ferris wheel.

Moved to NC two years ago and I am not sure why I waited this long to bring my girls. The price is so worth it. I have a 3 and 4 year old and they were able to do so many things and ride so many rides. Bonus points for the best views!

Lupe M — Google review

We had a wonderful time! Something fun and entertaining for the whole family. Perfect for younger kids, but it wasn’t bad for us bigger kids either. Haven’t been since I was little and glad we went back.

Dr. Y — Google review

By far the best amusement park anywhere around for young families! Clean amenities, great atmosphere, enthusiastic/friendly employees and delicious food. They also let you bring your own food which is a huge plus when visiting on a budget! And if you are visiting on a holiday, expect lots of decorations, shows & celebrations to boot!

Courtney C — Google review

My 9 yr old was overwhelmed with excitement! I must say I was too. I recommend a 5pm or 6pm train ride so you can see everything before or after the train ride. There was so much to see!!! We went in December and had a WONDERFUL time!!! Make sure your phone is fully charged because you will take a lot of photos! Tickets are a bit pricey.

Shannon — Google review

What a neat little theme park! Visited with my girlfriend - there are lots of things to do for people of all ages! We were very impressed with all the rides and attractions, and spent most of our day enjoying those. A very good variety of rides from multiple time periods! The small zoo was a neat experience as well, with goats, deer, emus, and some donkeys and mules. The train ride was great as well, very well done. I was also impressed with the pricing of concessions - very reasonable compared to most amusement parks!

William E — Google review

Visited with my granddaughter on a school field trip day. Great place for kids up to 10 years old or so. Coal fired steam engines were a really cool piece of history. Rides were generally of the state fair variety for youngsters. Grand daughter approved!

Nick D — Google review

What an amazing park for kiddos!! (And adults who love riding authentic steam-powered trains!) Our kids loved the big train (and the live show outside the train) the chair lift, and the mouse mine train at the top of the mountain. They had a lot of fun petting and feeding the animals at the petting zoo and riding the "Barrels of fun" coaster. The Fourth of July fireworks were amazing as they echoed through the mountains. We had such a fun time; hope to be back at Tweetsie next year!

Ken V — Google review

What a fun experience for the whole family. We have been here in the past and loved it. The train ride is fun and the lights are beautiful. We loved the smores over the fire, and the blizzard was awesome. The park was clean and all the staff were super friendly. If in the area you too should make this a Christmas tradition.

Dane W — Google review

Tweetsie is a must must must. Our daughter is two, and we came here for her second birthday and she loved it so much we got season passes and we have already been back twice. Just a great experience overall. Train is wonderful. Food is good. Not everything is to outrageously priced, friendly staff and everything is in close proximity. Great fun! Will be back again.

Grayson W — Google review

I’m not sure how this place can have anything other than 5 stars?! The staff are beyond friendly and helpful, the park is laid out beautifully and the pricing is right in line with similar size theme parks. The park has plenty of restrooms, parking, food options and extremely clean! We will definitely be making it back soon for another fun family outing!

Southern L — Google review

Great little park. Very few lines. Great rides for the kids. Best fudge and chocolates! Bring some snacks and water, they allow it. Sit on the right side of train car 3 or 4 for the best view if the show.

Ryan D — Google review

We love tweetsie Railroad. Have gone during Thomas and on a regular day. The only downside is the price. It is a little expensive. However, you can easily spend the entire day here between the shows and the rides. They don’t check your bag so we always bring drinks, snacks, and some sandwiches in. The staff has always been extremely nice and the staff who are in the shows, and on the train ride are always so energetic and funny.

Jessica J — Google review

This is a cute family park with a lot of fairground type rides. We watched two of the shows and they were good. The train ride was fun. They also have a small animal park. Overall there isn't a ton to do here and it is definitely geared towards families and younger kids. We only stayed for three hours. For two adults we paid $132, which I thought was very steep and not worth the value.

Will G — Google review

I wish I could rate this higher because you can tell there's a lot of history here and I love trains, but I can't. It was a fun experience but I just don't think the price lined up with what you got. The train ride was cool. The train show was a bit cheesy which is to be expected. It was fun riding the ski lift. I thought the quality of their gift shop items were decent. I would have given a 5 star if one of the train actors didn't say one of the vulgar viral phrases going on right now "hawk tuah, spit on that thang". I thought that was very distasteful. We went on the train twice. The last one we did was the last ride of the day. It was evident that the young college age, summer job actors, were just trying to do things to make each other laugh which, when you are paying $60 per person, you would hope they would put on a better show.

Joe N — Google review

Lots of fun for the family. Younger kids especially enjoy it because there is plenty to do for younger children. However you should plan to eat either before arrive or pack your lunch as it can get very expensive if you eat in the park. A corn dog itself is 4$. And the kids box meal is $18 and comes with a small plastic lunchbox keepsake. The rides aren't really high thrill but are more akin to a county fair. Still a fun experience even if it's nothing like it was in the 80s-90s

David B — Google review

Our toddler had a blast! They have a decent amount of littler children rides, as well as some for older kiddos. Ride lines were short, not sure how much of that was because of the day we went. The animals at the top were also a hit. It’s a smallish theme park, we were only there for 2-3 hrs. It’s not a full day commitment like a FL Disney park.

My partner and I had a pleasant time at this beautiful winery. We decided to spend our afternoon lounging while enjoying the tasty wine and food. I would recommend it to anyone looking for something to do on the weekend or haven’t been.

Update 10/19 visit- the leaves are beautiful!Had a nice day yesterday. Great views. Allison was very friendly and knowledgeable with the wines! The wines were good. There was even a proposal....she said yes!

Tracy B — Google review

This is a Beautiful vineyard. Magnificent views and grounds. All the wines are dry and I am sweet wine drinker. Nevertheless I highly recommend checking it if you are in the area.

Chris B — Google review

We had a great day for a wine tasting. The reds are very good. Bold flavors and a great nose. Our server Justin, gets 5 stars for himself. He was very knowledgeable and made some great suggestions. They have a limited but very good charcuterie offering as well as dips.We loved the reds so much we will go back for the white tasting next. The grounds and vineyard are gorgeous and well maintained. They offer a tour but we will have to go back for that.

Rob M — Google review

Amazing day trip place with delisious wine.Views and place are so gorgeous that I'm ssruioly debating renewing our vows there (and we haven't even been married a year). Or maybe doing a big birthday party there.

Lana D — Google review

A good experience but you should strive for excellence. The beginning was disappointing. The hostess was initially kind when we arrived to let her know we had a reservation but soonafter approached her with the intent to ask her if we could go explore before our tour started and she was extremely dismissive. It deflated my excitement for the day ahead. I would highly recommend the owners or management to reconsider the face of their establishment. This was the hostess scheduled to work on 10/19/2024 around 1pm. I witnessed her being extremely rude to several guests. This was so unfortunate. It was a beautiful birthday other than that but why taint it with such an unwelcoming experience. Overall, your establishment was okay but the service is lacking. Your staff in charge of tastings are also lacking customer service experience. My fiancé and I were part of a tasting group and your server Benjamin skipped us on a tasting and I had to call him out more than once. He redeemed himself towards the middle but doesn’t take away from the feeling of being left out in a group when we were paying customers. Beautiful location but your service and staff are JUST OKAY. Would I recommend the place? I guess but be weary of the lack of customer experience. Would I host my wedding here? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Work on your staff training.

I am originally from Europe, and I have been to Italy several times. Boy, does this bring back the best memories of that! A beautiful estate and really good wines on the top of the atmosphere and excellent service! I definitely recommend a thousand times!

Lovely Vineyard with such beautiful scenery. Learned a lot on the tour and wine tasting (we purchased the flights)🍷 Thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Olivia is the best Host! We did a wine tour and they have very few food options, but the view and atmosphere is Bellissimo!

It was a wonderful day to escape to the mountains and spend time at Raffaldini Winery. I recommend the Vermentino Superiore. Wonderful sipping wine. They also have a fabulous olive oil from Italy along with a great balsamic vinegar from Modena. Sat under the tent for a tasting and then bought a bottle of wine and sat in the picnic area. Our new favorite winery!

Roberta E — Google review

Such a great visit with our out of town guests. It really felt like we were in Italy on vacation. Jesse was so knowledgeable, welcoming and engaging. We will definitely return!

Francesca T — Google review

Absolutely beautiful wine tasting venue with a stunning view. The wine was 5 stars!!!

John W — Google review

I was immediately transported back to Italy, the minute we saw the Foothills and the overall layout of the Vineyards it was over. The prices are extremely reasonable here, and they have an amazing selection of wines that are very reminiscent of Italian wines. My all time favorite wine is Chianti and they definitely nailed it with their Sangiovese classico!! We will definitely be going back!

Dustin H — Google review

Friends and I have visited Raffaldini Vineyard and Winery several times. Such a beautiful vineyard and buildings. The wine is amazing. The last time we tried the sparkling Strawberry and Basil. You have great service and all employees are great, but our favorite staff is Jasmine. She goes above and beyond. So we will definitely be going back many times.

Susan L — Google review

What a pleasant surprise this winery!I have seen Toscana, and I have relatives there . Yes, this property does resemble Toscana .It is a beautiful building with amazing views. The outdoor seating has beautiful furniture and the views are relaxing .I did tasted the wines. The vast majority are red wines, but that sparkling withe is amazing . Like a sparkling Moscato. They are organizing events here as well.It is one of the best vineyards that I visited in NC .

Mircea I — Google review

Went to the Italian festival today. It was ok. Lots of people. Glass of wine we felt was overpriced at $14. Food trucks, a little live music. Great view of the mountains. We were not allowed inside the building which we would have loved to see. Day got better as we visited other wineries nearby.

Gil “ — Google review

Great views and the architecture of the building is magnificent. Though the only food they offer are cheeses and crackers, there is usually a food truck/trailer in the parking lot that has more substantial offerings. I would be very happy to see them pave their parking lots instead of the gravel they have now which is not ideal for nice cars, and also I wish they would offer at least one wine which is sweet...currently they have none and I know a lot of people prefer sweeter wines.

Ted N — Google review

Took a day trip from Charlotte to spend the afternoon at this winery. We were all blown away at how nice of a day it was. My family lived in Napa for years and they even raved about this trip. The atmosphere and grounds are stunning and the wines are surprisingly great for NC. Only thing they could improve on is the tasting and tour, the staff didn’t seem too enthusiastic about either. Other than that, it was a perfect day and we will definitely be back to visit.

Jordan S — Google review

I am originally from California and Raffaldini is the closest thing to the wineries in Napa and Sonoma County. It’s a fabulous place to bring guests from out of town or as a side trip on your way to the high country. If you prefer dry wines, this is the place for you! My personal favorite is the 2017 Grande Reserve. Cheers!

Upscale bistro at Shelton Vineyards offering diverse seasonal American fare paired with house wines.

Fantastic! Had dinner last night with another couple. Donna our waitress was great! The food , service and atmosphere are first-class ! A very relaxed dinner with friends! We have been here several times in the past during our visit to Shelton Vineyard!

BZ — Google review

We went for my birthday. The food was great as well as the service. Our server Adrianne B was wonderful. This was our 1st time, and there was a little issue with a part of our food, but it was taken care of promptly. Being a vegetarian, it was nice to have several options. We will be back in a few months for our anniversary.

Daveen F — Google review

Solid lunch at Shelton Vineyards. Attended a company function here and would absolutely return. Try the collard green / pulled pork egg rolls or house made pimento cheese.

Uhland M — Google review

Unfortunately I arrived at the same time as a party of ten. My waitress was so tied up with this group that her other tables got ignored. Also the party of 10 backed up the kitchen so my dinner took over 2 hrs. The food was good and I’d come back next time I’m in town. I recommended visiting this restaurant.I don’t recommend the devil triangle the texture was weird. Everything else I had tonight was good.

Mike D — Google review

We enjoy the atmosphere and wine at Shelton Vineyards but the Harvest Grill continues to be disappointing. We reserved a table there for Mother's Day lunch. The hostess and waitress were friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere there was wonderful. For Mother's Day, a fixed menu with ample appetizers, main course, and dessert options was offered. We were excited with the food selections after reading the descriptions. The food was highly disappointing. The chicken marsala was nothing more than dry baked chicken on the bone. No tenderized chicken breast and no marsala sauce. The broccoli with cheddar cheese sauce was served sans any cheese and the brie potatoes had no brie cheese. The Brussel sprouts were tasty but soft and overcooked, the pork was mostly just pork fat that should have been trimmed away, and the beef was also overcooked. We ate at 1:30 so there was no reason for the food to be so poor and vastly different than described on the menu. The menu descriptions and the actual food were vastly different. BTW, our last meal at Harvest Grill - a chicken salad sandwich last summer during a concert event - resulted in food poisoning. We will continue to enjoy the winery but will skip the Harvest Grill in the future.

Ken M — Google review

Food was phenomenal! I had the halibut with brussel sprouts and pasta that literally melted in my mouth that was the special.. wow! My husband had the crab cake with brussel sprouts and he loved it as well. We even finished with the buttermilk pie which was the perfect way to finish an already amazing meal! Truly memorable!

Jess G — Google review

We have a made a point to come here everytime we're in the area because it's always been an amazing experience. Tonight was ok, not as great as past experiences. Did not enjoy the crab cake. They did accommodate a different side as I didn't want fingerlings with duck fat. Farmers' Market risotto was decent, brusselsprouts were very hard though. Mushroom soup was good. Bread service was nice with accompaniments.

Heather C — Google review

We have enjoyed the Shelton experience for decades. The Harvest Grill has been hit or miss over the years but our experience today is a rare low. My wife made a reservation from the car during our drive back from New England. When the reservation was taken, our name was written incorrectly. When I checked in, the hostess made an issue of the difference in the spelling. Unfortunately I was unable to “guess” what was in their computer. She turned the computer around to show me that my wife had apparently misspelled her own name. After we were seated the manager asked my wife if we had made a reservation as I apparently could not be trusted to know our names. Strike three, I’ll not darken their threshold again.

Tracy T — Google review

What a lovely evening at Harvest Grill at Shelton Vineyards. A very diverse menu with tons of options (both my children found something good!) We ate on the patio and had their charcuterie board, strawberry Bibb salad, pimento cheese fondue— our main courses were also delicious. Highly recommend!

Claire M — Google review

We visited Shelton Vineyards on Friday Nov 17. We ate at the restaurant. Amanda was our server. It was an exceptional experience! The ambience was warm and inviting. The food and wine were delicious. The service was superb. Amanda was courteous, pleasant and extremely attentive to our needs. Amanda made sure that we were very satisfied. She went above and beyond to take care of us during our time at the restaurant. We'll definitely be back and would love to have Amanda as our server again.

Dee S — Google review

Do not get the BLT!!! I ordered a change from the pimento cheese BLT to cheddar. Both came out with burnt toast. 18 bucks you get unevenly burnt toasted bread. You will get one slice of cheddar cheese melted, with no mayo? One supper thin sliced tomato, you couldn't find it in the sandwich. You will also get one slice of lettuce and maybe two slices of bacon. They put it in the middle of the toast, leaving two inches of dry burnt toast to eat around the filling. You will get four small bites, from the middle of the sandwich. That's it, how the heck do you screw up a BLT? All for 18 bucks, you can get the dry cardboard BLT. The chef should have never let those sandwiches leave that kitchen. The waitress was five star, and comped us with dessert. She was horrified with what we got. We gave her a great tip, however the kitchen should find someone who knows how to make a big stuffed nicely toasted BLT worthy of 18 bucks. Here is a thought YouTube it, you will be able to come up with some created ideas.

Diane M — Google review

Cool spot with beautiful old style decor. The service was fantastic!! We had Kim as our server and she did the best job taking care of us!The charcuterie was too notch, as well as the bread with the butter and jam plate. I think we would have all been happy with that.We all got a different meal so we could try everything. One filet mignon, one carbonara, one pork loin and one beef tips. I had the filet. It was good. The sides were a bit lacking in flavor but did taste fresh. The pork loin was the winner at the whole table. It had great taste and the accompaniments went well with it. The other two dishes were pretty boring. The music was great but it ended at 7:30. On Valentine's day! We couldn't believe it. So most of our dinner was quiet. It felt odd. Not sure why it ended that quickly but it was disappointing.Overall it was a fun experience that gave us the opportunity to dress up and have a good time. Not the best food in the world though.

Julie S — Google review

The atmosphere is good but the food menu is very limited for vegetarian. Tried mushroom stuffed raviolis, the sauce was watery and taste was pungent.Ordered nachos but most of it was undercooked. Would not recommend for food.

Anjali M — Google review

Very nice restaurant. Staff is very friendly and helpful!!! My server, Adrienne, was amazing!!!! The butternut squash ravioli with pancetta croutons, sage brown butter and apple butter on top of wilted kale was absolutely delicious!!!!!!! The views on the patio are beautiful!

Tracy B — Google review

Presentation and flavors were top notch. Spinach was perfect but the chicken in my main dish was dry and they overcooked the beans. Mind you I ate everything because the flavors were very well done.

Gregory V — Google review

The filet and halibut are outstanding. I also enjoyed the Caesar salad and the Spanish egg rolls. Tonight was my second time dining at Harvest Grill and both times it has been a great experience. Benson was my server on both occasions and he is an absolute dream. He is very knowledgeable about the menu and the array of wines they offer. He is excellent with pairing suggestions and leading you through each course.

Had a really nice tour of the winery, a wine sampling and finished it off with an excellent dinner at the grille the food was amazing. Great atmosphere and ambiance. The server we had was very attentive and helpful. Also was able to bring our own bottle of wine we purchased at the winery and had that with dinner which was much more affordable than buying a bottle at the restaurant!

Lovely place to have dinner. Pork ribeye was delicious cheese plate appetizer was pleasant crab cakes we're good.

Guy D — Google review

Came for anniversary before our tasting. Food was incredible, as was the service. My husband had a pasta special and I had a twist on the Caesar salad with blackened chicken. Everything tasted great! Not a single complaint. We sat outside and the weather was gorgeous. The dessert we got was a pound cake with chocolate sauce and port soaked cherries. It was heavenly. We will definitely be back!

Ashley R — Google review

Servers all very nice and accommodating. I had a dinner size Caesar with a Crab Cake. Delicious. Crab cake, not much breading. Chef made a gluten free perfect dinner for my spouse. Great tasting grilled Ribeye steak, perfectly cooked squash, mixed veg. Then a Grits bowl with chives, cheddar, unique great flavor.

The Andy Griffith Museum, located in Mount Airy, NC, is a 2,500-square-foot space dedicated to the life and career of the late actor Andy Griffith. Founded by his lifelong friend Emmett Forrest, the museum boasts the world's largest collection of Griffith memorabilia. Visitors can explore items from The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock sets as well as personal pieces like a rocking chair made by Griffith's father.

Such a wonderful museum. I visited with my Mother-in-law, Sister-in-law, and a great family friend. All 4 of us love and or grew up watching and still all these years later watch the Andy Griffith show. This museum was cherry on top of our visit to Mt Airy. We definitely recommend everyone who loves the show to visit the museum.

Jessica S — Google review

Well worth the price of admission. A lot of memorabilia from the Andy Griffith show & movies he was in during his career. Admission is around $10 per person & open 7 days a week. We visited early in the morning & there was a small group of people there at the time. Takes about an hour to see all the exhibits.

Ben T — Google review

I think it was 8 dollars to get In per person which isn't too bad. I expected the museum to be bigger honestly but you did learn quite a bit about his life. Giving it 4 stars because it's kinda confusing on how to get there from the parking lot. Also the sidewalks are slippery even without rain so be careful.

Janice M — Google review

Perhaps the number one thing to do in Mount Airy and we really enjoyed it. Less than an hour to tour through this small museum, watching the clips from movies and TV shows, viewing the exhibits and reading through the explanations of all the memorabilia. Lots to see!I think it's best to come early just after they open as it's not a very large space and it does get crowded. And don't miss the Siamese Twins Museum across the street - there is a combined admission.

Bruce K — Google review

I enjoyed this museum. Should have been a little bigger. Great price of about $8 per person. Loved what I saw but the layout could have been a little better. Good walkways for handicapped individuals. Love Andy so I loved seeing this museum devoted to him. Also went to the gas station and the jail. Great experience that I would do again.

Dee T — Google review

I love this museum. It was not very expensive and had a steady stream of customers but not crowded. Memorabilia from Andy’s life and many nice items to purchase at the gift counter.

Adam S — Google review

Great walk through the shows history. It was also nice to learn more in depth things about the cast. The items in the museum are well kept. There are numerous displays.

Vernon G — Google review

Take a step back into Mayberry. You'll find lots to do in the town where Andy Griffith grew up in. The museum highlights his entire career. We really enjoyed it.

Taylor T — Google review

A tremendous tribute to Andy Griffith. Plenty to see, and the admission price was fair.If you're an Andy fan, you definitely want to visit!

Rob R — Google review

My son gifted me with a trip to Mayberry for Mother's Day! We stayed at 711 East Haymore Andy's childhood home for the weekend. The museum was very well organized and had actual clothing worn by the Stars of the show. The cost to get in is very reasonable at $8 and change. Be sure and stop by and take your picture with Andy and Opie's statue out front!

Teresa K — Google review

Nice tribute to Andy and the show, so much history, did you know Don Knotts won 6 Emmy's for his role? make sure you get the combo pass and visit the newly opened Siamese Twins museum.

Mark M — Google review

Great place, husband loves the show and still watches it regularly!! So glad we found it on our travels, it was so fun!!

Tracey B — Google review

The Andy Griffith Museum is a small, but extremely well done museum dedicated to the life of Andy Griffith. It includes many artifacts from his childhood through his adult career. Some are more esoteric like a year book from when he was a music/drama teacher in the local high school. There are lots of things from his movies, Matlock, The Andy Griffith show, and his musical career. It is a relatively small space but one of the better organized and presented displays we have visited. It was under $10 a person when we visited. There was a steady stream of people for a Tuesday afternoon but it wasn’t crowded. There is a second exhibit area down the stairs in another building (The Surry Arts Council) which focuses more on the town and other characters including the career of Betty Lynn who played Thelma Lou on the show.

Jim D — Google review

Small museum packed with information regarding Andy Griffith’s life. So much lovely memorabilia from Andy’s movies & the Andy Griffith Show. There is free parking in the lot next to the museum and theater.

Learned a lot about Andy Griffith here! The museum was small, but it was definitely fun to see. Had 3 beautiful murals outside, a statue out front, and a few good photo options inside as well.

Tiffany P — Google review

Loved the museum. Even saw posters of movies Andy starred in that I didn’t know about. Beautiful grounds. Well organized museum. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Plenty of parking.

Took a day trip to Mount Airy & we just had to visit the Andy Griffith Museum. As children we loved his show so this was a must for my husband and myself. We made a day of it and went out to eat & enjoyed downtown Mount Airy.

JOSEPHINE G — Google review

Whats not to love about Mayberry! To walk in and see about how and where Andy Griffith grew up and made his way to the big screen is interesting and gives a whole new meaning to our small town. This is Andy's home town and you will see how much this played into the writing of the show. There is also a museum below with more information on the town itself. Small museum but packed with information.

Hiking & rock climbing on iconic, 2,400-ft. Pilot Mountain with a separate riverfront area.

Lovely trail and easy to follow summit look outs. Beautiful views though you can still see some of the damage from the fire.Beware the peak loop if you are not good at stairs. While it is technically a "trail" it's almost exclusively stairs and some of them are quite large (some steps were higher than my knees and I needed help up)

Amazing! Great hike & gorgeous views. Already want to go back, especially in the fall. This was recommended & did not disappoint. It’s a nice hike. Very easy & mild climb. We parked at the top, but if you want a longer trek, park at the lower parking lot & hike up. It was perfect weather & temp. Bathrooms are nice & clean too. Not too many people on a Saturday. I feel so refreshed after being surrounded by nature & breathing the fresh air. There were families with younger kids & dogs too so it’s definitely family friendly. We saw a few groups of rock climbers…pretty cool to watch! The photos & videos will speak for themselves.

A great state park in the foothills of the Blue Rich Mountains. Pilot Mountain is truly impressive. You can drive up the neighboring mountain to the summit. There is a parking lot at the top and there are numerous viewing platforms for impressive photos. At the same time, Pilot Mountain is a paradise for hikers and climbers and you can go on great tours on the many hiking trails.

Stephan S — Google review

We parked at the bottom of the mountain at the visitors center and began our hike up to the top following the blue trail markers. The sign at the bottom said it was 3.5 miles each way. My watch showed that was pretty darn close, since our round trip was approximately that. It's a good hike up to the top. Some windy trails, but not too difficult overall. Some steeper elevations at times. But it was a nice, quiet hike, as it appears that most people just like to drive up to the top, park, take pictures and then drive back down. That made the trails less populated for us, which was nice. The views from the top (and close to the top) are gorgeous. I loved the signage about tyke surrounding areas and the birds to keep an eye out for.Ultimately, always a great experience. I love that they have bathrooms at the bottom and the top of the mountain and a water filtration device at the bottom now. Nice touch for all of us thirsty hikers!!

Shanah B — Google review

Nice park with great views. It can get crowded on weekends, as you would imagine. There are many hiking trails of varying difficulties. The hike along Pilot Knob is under a mile, fairly easy, and has nice views of the surrounding area. There is camping although I haven't camped here yet.Looking forward to visiting again.

Stefan K — Google review

The pilot mountain is such a unique structure to have formed naturally and has an aura of its own. There are various hiking options to the mountain and for those who do not want to hike much, can also drive up to the parking available near the summit. The views from the top are breathtaking and if you happen to do the little pinnacle trail around the summit, you get to have a 360 degree view of the valleys with the beautiful rock formations and the well preserved flora and fauna on the top. Even the air around the mountain feels different, it’s just so serene and pristine! I had an incredible experience visiting this place.

Saya ( — Google review

Amazing place! I totally recommend stopping here if you’re traveling through! We drove up to the parking lot at the top of the mountain just in time for sunset, and it was well worth it! It was so gorgeous I didn’t want to leave! There’s also a picnic area, several overlooks and trails, it’s just an incredible 360 degree view even from the parking lot!

Daniel — Google review

Nice park to walk in. The trail around the knob is an easy, well-worn path. There are a handful of steps leading to the wraparound. Once you reach the split, you walk either direction around the knob ending back at the split to backtrack to the parking lot.The nicest thing about this trail are the overhangs. On the hottest days, it feels like an air-conditioned breeze blowing through them. We have found the first couple clockwise to be great spots to grab a bite and relax. Just always take out what you bring in

Jimmy S — Google review

My family and I absolutely loved this park. We hiked to the top from the visitor's center at the very bottom. I'm glad that we did that for our first time. It gave us a pretty good sense of accomplishment when we completed the trail. The walk around the Pilot's Knob is definitely the best part of the hike. Our personal highlight was a visit from a Peregrine Falcon while we were snacking and resting in the shade. This was our 5th state park, and it was far cooler than I thought it was going to be.For those who don't want to do a big hike, you can drive close to the top. There are very easily accessible views from the top parking lot, and the Pilot's Knob loop is not far either. The visitor center has a nice little shop, and there was a friendly park ranger who told us all about a few birds we saw on the trail. We loved this park and hope to visit again soon. Just be aware that the hike from the bottom near the visitor center is quite a haul.

Pilot Mountain State Park is a stunning destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The park’s iconic, towering peak offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, making it a perfect spot for hiking, photography, or simply enjoying the beauty of North Carolina's natural scenery. The trails are well-maintained and cater to a variety of skill levels, with options for both casual walkers and more experienced hikers. One of the highlights is the Jomeokee Trail, which circles around the summit and provides incredible panoramic views. The Little Pinnacle Overlook is another must-see spot, offering one of the best vantage points in the park. For those who enjoy rock climbing, Pilot Mountain also provides challenging routes with rewarding views at the top.The park is well-equipped with amenities, including picnic areas, a visitor center, and camping facilities for those looking to extend their stay. Whether you're planning a day trip or a weekend getaway, Pilot Mountain State Park offers a peaceful escape into nature, rich with opportunities for adventure and relaxation. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable outdoor experience!

Tasha L — Google review

While kind of looking out of place in a relatively flat landscape, Pilot Mountain is a beautiful natural wonder. It's a free park to visit and once you make the long, snaking drive to the top you will be greeted with a stunning view of central North Carolina. While handicap accessible, it is a bit of a hike so be prepared. And have good brakes for the drive back down!

Chad H — Google review

Hiked around the larger kn9b. There were a hood amount of steps but it wasn't very difficult. A short .08 miles trail rated moderate. It was worth the breathtaking views!

Alicia J — Google review

We tested out the Grimestone trail. We had a great time. You can also drive up or take the shuttle to the top of the peak. There are a good variety of trails for all different lengths and skill levels. Great way to spend a Saturday!

Taylor W — Google review

Such a nice place and longgggg hiking trails. Ended up trekking about 8 miles round trip up and down the mountain. Not for the weak but you can drive up to the top of you choose. Also have drinking fountains and bathrooms at the top. Amazing view even on the top part of the trail before you get to the top. Mostly up hill hiking but went down twice as fast on the way down. Nicely cleared trail as well.

I've wanted to hike here for years, I made it happen today. It was a beautiful hike!I took mountain Trail to Grindstone and then to pilot knob (hiked halfway then turned back because a storm was moving in)It was a long hike but easy elevation gains circling the mountain. Here are some photos I took with my phone to share with ya.

Tattoos I — Google review

Beautiful spot. Nice panoramic views from the top. You can drive to the summit (about 2 miles) if the parking is available or There is a shuttle that takes you to the summit from the visitor center. I saw people hiking as well.

Aravinda S — Google review

Beautiful area and an easy drive. The mountain that you view from is so quiet at the top. You don't get to climb or drive on Pilot Mtn. There used to be stairs, but those are no longer accessible. The Visitor Center is new with a few exhibits and nice facilities.

Michaelle N — Google review

Wonderful place to hike with family and friends. There are many trail heads. Some are easy and some are strenuous. You can choose the route you would like to. We hiked grind stone trail ( blue circle) and went around the pilot knob( red square) and returned through yellow circle( 3 bears gully) which finally connects to grind stone trail. It was worth the half day of hike. The view is beautiful up there. We met a 84 years lady who was so energetic and said she hikes the knob every Sunday. God bless her with many more years of energy. There are river side trails which are easy to do with small kids. We will do that next time. Totally, this place is a must go.

Archana E — Google review

It's absolutely stunning. Has hiking trails and bathrooms. If you're short on time, no problem, just drive up, take a snap, and be on your way.

Espers S — Google review

A beautiful place to visit year round. Folks mostly prefer to hike around the trails but it's a long way to the top. A nice winding road to the top which is more than a mile long. There is a gate at the entrance which is closed when the parking lot at the top is full, you may have to wait roughly for an hour near visitor center. Visitor center is good stop before or after visit to the top of mountain. It has few things on display and a store to shop for memorabilia, staff is kind and helpful even though they get asked about same things over again. Facilities at top of mountain and near visitor center is decent.

State park

Nature & Parks

Hanging Rock State Park is a stunning natural area with cliffs and plateaus, offering various outdoor activities such as rock climbing, lake fishing, swimming, camping and hiking. The hike to the top of the park requires proper preparation as it involves climbing up actual rocks with an elevation gain of 2000 ft. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views at the top along with beautiful waterfalls. The park has a visitor center that provides basic amenities including bathrooms and water refill stations.

I have been on the trail that leads you up to hanging rock. I have to go back to the trails that have waterfalls. I am a bigger girl I definitely would say bring water. And maybe a walking stick. The beginning of the trail started out pretty good and easy. Then you come up to stairs which were not to horrible. Thereafter, you come up to more stairs that are steeper. If you have knee problems just be extra careful. I really enjoyed the view when we got to to the top. I thought I wasn’t going to make it however there are some benches along the way to take some breaks. I would also recommend to drink before hand so you don’t get muscle cramps. It’s worth the view but take it easy. Also you have to time it right to be sure you get back to your car and down the mountain before the sun sets. Have a great time!

Tanya H — Google review

Totally worth the 2 hour drive from Raleigh. Ive been to this park a few times before but this was my first time coming to see sunset. Although there are so many options to hike, see waterfalls, swim, etc. my favorite is the Hanging Rock Trail. We made it to the parking lot in front of the visitor center around 5:30 pm. The trail to the hanging rock overlook begins opposite to the visitor center. The trail had this time changed a bit. Now it is 1.8 miles one way. I would say it is an easy hike and probably takes around an hour to get to the top. It was not so crowded. The sunset was so gorgeous - beautiful colors everywhere. We stayed till it got dark. The return hike was fun and in the dark, we had to rely on the moonlight to navigate most of it, but also used the phone flashlight at some areas. Also saw a big buck in the dark which was cool. Highly recommend doing this hike at sunset.

Ajimon T — Google review

This is a beautiful park. The only reason I gave it four stars is because there is a lot of people there. It is more of a tourist trap than a serene location. The falls are very pretty but they are full of people that don’t know how to treat them. I would definitely recommend seeing it, just know what to expect when you go. They have a large visitors center and good maps. It definitely caters to more novice hikers. It was free to hike.

Bobby P — Google review

Really nice and easy to get to mild waterfalls. I think the best one was hidden behind the "window". (if weather permits, definitely look there.Hidden falls was a super easy hike, 0.4 miles from parking lot. Window falls is 0.6 miles. It took us 1.5hrs to do both with hike and pictures. About half of the people came there with dogs and babies! We even saw a couple of (well behaved not crying) toddlers and people in their 60-70s.It helps if you are in shape, but even if you are not, you can still do it.

Lana D — Google review

I really loved here! You can spend a complete perfect day, first hiking, the trail to the top of the mountain is easy if you are condition also thanks to the trees the weather is good, in the offices there are restrooms and drinking fountain and the parking is big, also there are little waterfalls and even a small “beach” of course I’ll come back. Remember: Do not litter and respect other people's space, bc that day there was a guy with a speaker making noise

Noelia B — Google review

Wednesdays and Thursdays are the best times to go because it’s less busy! I’ve been here many times and I still enjoy it. We saw lots of wildlife in the morning time 💜 we did the hanging rock trail of course and like others, it kicked our butts haha. All worth the views!Bath house bathrooms and Visitor center bathrooms were pristine. Employees are very sweet and informative!

Cassandra C — Google review

Beautiful state park with a great campground that’s reasonably priced. Be careful of ticks right now if visiting the area. Had to get one off my husband just after getting in the car. So thankful I seen it!

Kylie B — Google review

Great hike to the peak on Hanging Rock Trail, with excellent views, and well maintained path. I'd say this was medium to hard just in terms of the incline, but otherwise it was well paved and easy to navigate! Will definitely be back. Hidden and Window Falls were quite small so would skip next time, especially with the incline (but well paved).

Dan L — Google review

We had a great time. Beautiful walk and strenuous coming back up, but it was worth it. Lots of places to sit, picnic and park. Many different trails. Beautiful views. Will be coming back for the 3 mile hike

Jess P — Google review

Beautiful scenery, rock formations and moderate hikes await those wanting to explore Hanging Rock state Park. Spacious camp sites are fairly inexpensive. Only one centrally located bathroom/bathhouse that could use a facelift. Staff does good job at keeping it mostly clean, but moldy ceiling and dated fixtures could use some work. Didn't visit for the shower set up, so all in all, had a wonderful time hiking and exploring the cliffs, the upper and lower Cascades as well 👍

Matt V — Google review

Not too far from Greensboro, Hanging Rock is a beautiful place! Trails from easy to strenuous, allowed everyone in our group from 5 to 59 to enjoy the views and trails that fit every fitness level. The rock garden was the easiest walk, and provided a quick walk into the woods. The falls trail that is next to the short rock garden trail is listed as easy, but it does have a little bit of a hill that can take some energy to get back up for folks not in great hiking shape. We took our time, sipped some water, and made it back up just fine!Wonderful visitors center with a nice smallExhibit space, gift shop and a spacious deck where members of your party who don’t want to hike could sit and relax and enjoy some beautiful views.Weekdays are likely less crowded than the weekends. And as the weather gets nicer, the parking lot is definitely more filled on the weekend.

Max N — Google review

Hanging Rock State Park offers an unparalleled natural escape for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Families can enjoy picnicking by the lake or swimming in the clear waters, while adventurers can try their hand at rock climbing or rappelling down the cliffs. The park is well-maintained with clean facilities and clearly marked trails, making it accessible and enjoyable for visitors of all ages and fitness levels.

Yogananda T — Google review

This is a very busy state park. The Hanging Rock trail is about 1.3 miles one way with a bit of elevation gain. I'd say it's a moderate hike. The lower cascade falls is about 8 minutes away from the visitor center, and it's highly recommended for a cool touch to the spring water after an all-day hike. To truly experience the park though there are some other trails that we unfortunately didn't have enough time/energy to cover.

Khai M — Google review

Went on a weekday evening and the park wasn't crowded. Hiked to Wolf Rock. The trail is currently being improved but it doesn't affect the hike. The views from any summit at this park are beautiful. The rangers and staff are helpful and welcoming. The bathrooms are very clean. Overcrowded at times but highly recommend.

Danielle N — Google review

Made same day reservations for a car camping spot. Setup camp, then headed to the lake to cool off! Don’t forget to stop by the visitors center when you get there if traveling with little ones to pick up the Junior Ranger Adventure book!!

Mason — Google review

Stunning views from the top! Gorgeous views from below (Lower Cascade Falls)! This place was definitely the highlight of our trip! Be prepared for walking on an incline though . . . and bring along PLENTY of water. The hike up is approximately 1.8 miles on the new / rerouted trail . . . but it feels closer to 3. Lol Heading down to the Lower Falls is quick and easy . . . but coming back up the 110 stairs is a bit of a workout. We will DEFINITELY be visiting this State Park again whenever we return and/or pass through the area!

Mike G — Google review

The best state park I have seen. This park has it all, great view if you can make it to the hanging rock. Check the forecast I went on a rainy, cloudy day I wouldn’t recommend that. Not very kid friendly if you have little ones that like to wonder or explore on a trail. I am referring to viewing the hanging rock. The waterfalls view is beautiful, plenty of trees, land, things to do. I look forward to going again. Great park to go to.

Johnny M — Google review

Very enjoyable family day! We grilled out hotdogs on one of the provided grills that could double as a fire pit. We sat at one of the picnic areas in the woods. A deer came within 10 feet of us to get an apple.Enjoyed the kayaking and swimming area. The guy that helps with the kayaks was super nice and very helpful!

Kerrie K — Google review

We enjoyed the hike. It's always interesting to read about the trails and gage the difficulty. We are not avid hikers. The trail to Hanging Rock was easy. One needs to consider the elevation though. We took our time and many breaks.

Jean F — Google review

The wife told me the restrooms were nice and the water from the tap cold near the visitor center. The new trail for hanging rock was really solid. Wide and easy to walk. It is a beautiful view at the top plenty of shade as well.

The Mill Mountain Star is a prominent and iconic landmark overlooking the city of Roanoke, Virginia. This neon-lit star stands at an impressive 100 feet and is a regional cultural symbol that attracts many visitors to the area. Perched on top of Mill Mountain, this location offers magnificent views of the city and surrounding natural landscape. It provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, walking or simply taking in the beautiful scenery.

The view here is incredible! It is a great place to get a quick bit of exercise (especially if you’re like me, and enjoy shorter hikes)! Thankfully the area is kept clean of trash and green with vibrant, beautiful nature aspects! I highly recommend a trip here if you’re visiting the area or simply have never been before. Whether it’s simply for the walk, photogenic properties, or to enjoy the surroundings this is a must-see location for residents and visitors alike!

The star at the Bill Mountain Star stands tall for great pictures and the view from the top is amazing. There are easy hiking trails along with visitor centre, play area and zoo that can enjoy with entrance fee. Little crowded on weekends to find parking but there are lots of car coming and going so you might get parking spot if you wait a little. They have restrooms on both visitor centre and near the big star as well. We enjoyed our tiny hike with the little one.

Panoramic views of the Roanoke Valley from several overlooks. Also a zoo, small park and Discovery Center - all in the shadow of the world's largest man-made star. Only the zoo has an admission fee.

I've visited Roanoke for the first time last year and came again this year. We always visit the star because it has an amazing view of the town, definitely worth the drive up. Beware of the locals jogging up and down the road to get up there, the street is very narrow and does not have a lot of space for pedestrians and cars.

Tiffany W — Google review

Beautiful, beautiful view of the city and just looking at all the mountains. Must visit if you're in Roanoke! Came to visit a friend, and she took me to see!! So grateful for the memorable opportunity she gave me as well as thinking of taking me! Thanks Olivia!!! :)

Wonderful views with easy access! The star is a magnificent spot that overlooks all of Roanoke and even highlights other peaks in the area. A road will bring you all the way up, and it is wheelchair accessible. The best part is that it's free!A playground and picnic area lies just below the star. A great place to bring younglings! There is a botanical garden, but that part isn't wheelchair accessible. It's a very pleasant walk, and it has a fish pond. It's not the biggest garden, but well labeled.

A marvelous view! A wonderful spot to go anytime of the day but I recommend going at night. I took my daughter and we had an absolutely amazing time! Very easy to get to. Not a far walk at all to the lookout. The lookout itself is outstanding! The star is truly a marvel. I highly recommend this for a family outing. I will be back here again and again!

This is a true Roanoke landmark overlooking the city. Well worth the drive up the mountain to check it out. The view is absolutely stunning. Can see all of Roanoke with the mountainside in the background. Come near dusk to take in the view and then see the star turn on. There is a platform to walk out on to take in the view and then check the star out. There is also a website where you can log on and see yourself. There are some walking trails around so you can go on a little gander. It's a must checkout.

Quiet and peaceful spot high atop Roanoke. Enjoyed seeing the massive star and the observation deck at its base. Clean restrooms and a few short walking paths wind around the park.

Yolanda W — Google review

The star is one of the best and oldest attractions in the area, drawing visitors who are locals as well as tourists/visitors to our city. You can't beat the view of the valley, and the overlooks are perfect for capturing those gorgeous views. The playground has picnic tables next to it for a perfect spot to enjoy lunch while the kids have their own little adventures climbing, sliding, and making their way through the tunnel. The star and overlooks are free, as well as parking, making it an excellent choice for a weekend afternoon family outing or picnic.

Krystal N — Google review

Our visit to Mill Mountain Star was truly memorable. The star itself, towering above Roanoke, is an iconic symbol of the city, and seeing it up close was an experience worth the trip. The drive up the mountain was scenic, offering glimpses of the lush surroundings, and once we reached the top, the views were simply breathtaking. The panoramic view of Roanoke and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains, especially at sunset, was nothing short of spectacular. The star lit up as dusk fell, casting a warm glow over the entire area. It was fascinating to learn about its history as the world's largest freestanding illuminated man-made star. The observation area was well-maintained, with plenty of space to take in the views and snap some great photos. There’s also a nearby park, which is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a picnic. While the main attraction is undoubtedly the star and the view, the peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty made the visit even more special. If you're ever in Roanoke, I highly recommend a trip to Mill Mountain Star, especially during the evening hours when you can catch the sunset and see the star in all its illuminated glory.

Carlos P — Google review

It was amazing to drive up the mountain to the overlook to see the Roanoke Star up close. It had just turned on by the time we got the top. And the view of Roanoke from the overlook was beautiful.

Sunny1912 — Google review

This was a beautiful walk to see the whole city from a birds eye view. There are several trails. We suggest starting at the discovery center to collect a free map. This would be a great family place to explore trails too.

Sabrina E — Google review

Fantastic park up a mountain that culminated in a really cool landmark. The star is the largest man made star in the world, which is impressive since it was built in 1949. Good lookout areas and plenty of parking. The view over Roanoke was really spectacular.

Gregory S — Google review

Not a local but stopped by while passing through the area. The star is huge as expected but it's the view of the city that really gets you. Lol there is a restroom also located in the parking lot of the star. If you walk the trail next to the star, it leads you down to the discovery center and the flower gardens. Walking through the garden will lead you directly to the zoo. The garden was not yet in bloom and the zoo was closed for the day (5pm) but still a nice walk.

Lenny W — Google review

Easy but winding road through the park to the Star and overlook. Free. Informative signs. Facilities accessible including restroom. Kids and adults enjoyed local history and culture and unique experience.

Valerie F — Google review

Being that this is the largest man-made star, it’s a must see if you are in the area. Easy trail through the park, the star is located opposite to a beautiful observation desk. Also in the park are a kids playground, discovery center, wildflowers garden, zoo, a pavilion and probably more:)

Very cool star with a great view of the city. There are hiking trails up there, parking and bathrooms. Everything is free!

Manassas National Battlefield Park, also known as Bull Run, is a historical site where significant battles between the Confederates and Union occurred during the Civil War. It was won by the Confederacy in 1861 and 1862. The park features fields marking these victories and a statue of Thomas Stonewall Jackson. There are ranger tours available at the Robinson farm which provide intriguing information about the area's history.

I had an enjoyable experience exploring the battlefield on a Monday in early March. I took the walking tour with the ranger, I don’t remember his name but he was very knowledgeable and a great story teller. There was plenty of parking. Restrooms in the visitors center. I watched the movie after the walking tour. I drove to the stone bridge and the unfinished railroad sites because I was running out of time. You could definitely spend an entire day here.

Miss V — Google review

I grew up around this area and walking the battle field never gets old. Very well taken care of and always such lovely people here. This last trip was my first time in the stone house though! Really cool to see and hope to be able to go in again.

It was ok. Probably the most interesting part was the museum at the visitor center. There is one semi-trail walk, all in the sun, that goes around a field. One confederate statue, some cool cannons and a wooden house. Around 40 parking spots.

Wonderful repository on the history of the region and the country during the late 1800's. Don't stop with the plaques, talk to the staff. There is so much more to the story and the people than can be presented by a monument or information sign.

This was a visit that brought a lot of history to life. To have been at the Battlefield Park at the end of September 2023, with the heavy clouds, was really a rich experience. I also purchased a two books from the book store, one of which is slave narratives.

Absolutely beautiful grounds, lots of trails to walk so bring your hiking shoes! The cannons and historic buildings really give a glimpse into the past ♥️🤍💙

Great trails. Clean restrooms. Friendly rangers and volunteers. Took our dog on mile walk. Lawns for picnics and recycling bins. Wish there was a plug in for EV cars.

Interesting, historically accurate and moving. Gazing upon the area you can feel the spirit, the camaraderie and the dedication of the brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting for freedom.

Pretty grounds, lots of interesting and sad history though. Friendly and informative visitor center staff.

Really nice area to walk around and enjoy the Grassland Biome. Also the history of the place is profound.

Part of history, I drive through it almost every day. When it snows, people sled behind the Stonehouse. It was the beginning of a nation.

Mike V — Google review

Even in November, the museum was open and we were able to walk through the battlefield.

If you enjoy history, this is a must if you are near Manassas. There is a tour guide, and it's free!

Kathey M — Google review

We went to Manassas National Battlefield Park. Bull Run is there, and it's where Thomas Jackson earned the nickname Stonewall. The film and battlefield tactics diorama were very good and educational.

Emily F — Google review

We took the grand kids to explore the battlefield. The guided tour was terrific. The ranger was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the battle, especially the context (our tour covered the 1st Battle of Bull Run). The visitor center has a great museum and the movie about the battles was extremely well done. I would caution that the scenes are very graphic and parents may want to discuss the movie before/after if your kids are 14 and younger.

Dan N — Google review

Manassas Battlefield Park is beautiful maintained. The Visitor Center is excellent. Highly recommend the movie prior to touring the Battlefield. Very clean restrooms. The gift shop has an excellent variety of books. Recommend doing the driving tour if this is your first visit. Recommend a visit to Mathew Hill to see the two naval 12 pound howitzers that was used during the battle.

Love all battlefields and I visit here very often due to me living 10 minutes away. I never get sick of the history here.

The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring

Adventure sports center

Water & Amusement Parks

Park

Theme Parks

Forest setup of zip lines, rope rigs & wooden bridges has day & night passes for kids & adults.

This is an amazing Adventure Park, the best definitely within a 2 hr radius. We used to go here from the Philly area for my son, who loved it. It has courses ranging from easy (Yellow) to the super challenging Double Black Diamond course. The courses all include zip lines but it’s the treetop rope challenges that are really fun.

A B — Google review

Very challenging and exciting ropes course. Staff was excellent and super helpful. Lovely picnic area to refresh after climbing. Provided a great workout...I am going to feel it in the morning! The water stations were great.too!

Ryan C — Google review

Intensive fun 😁 went for a friend's birthday. We set the time for 220, but the group got there more around 3. I sat by the bonfire, waiting for them to arrive where I saw the food truck. After everyone arrived, we watched the safety video and got our gear. I started with Mountain trail, went to Riptide, and ended the day with Fern Gully. I would return to complete the more complex ones. Also enjoyed the we stayed until the lights came on so may make it out for the glow session as an experience.

Safiya P — Google review

Great fun climbing and zip-lining throughout the trees on several courses that range from easy to challenging. We reserved our spots online and showed up. Check in was easy and we were off to safety training. Staff was outstanding and really did a fantastic job of explaining everything. We have been here in the past, but the staff ensured we were in our harnesses correctly, understood the rules and knew the various ways to move around the course. The staff is really top notch.Several amenities are available including a food truck, restrooms (porta potties), merchandise (gloves!), seating areas, lockers and large group areas. Large parking area as well. This place is available for large groups, birthday parties, summer camps and work outings. There is even an axe throwing venue if climbing is not your thing. So we had a great day. Courses are great. We came around 11 am and had purchased a 3 hour block. There is also night climbing as well.Lots of fun. Great for families and all ages. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Ed V — Google review

I took my Girl Scout troop here on a parent's recommendation, and was very impressed. First, we were able to get the group rate since we had 12 people climbing, which made the price of entry very reasonable. My first impression was very positive. The park looked clean and well maintained. There was literally a welcome sign for our troop. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. This was important, since we had many people who had not climbed like this before. There were staff members available throughout the park to help on the obstacles as well. There is a wide variety of obstacles to challenge all skill levels, but we never felt unsafe. The troop was allowed ample time to explore and enjoy as much of the park as they felt comfortable taking on. It was a very enjoyable experience, and I would highly recommend it for any group looking to do confidence building or team building, or even just folks looking for some outdoor adventure fun. Enjoy!

Dan U — Google review

Excellent location for zip lining and axe throwing. We went there as a Boy Scout troop and even though my son had been complaining all day of leg pain he seemed to do okay once he got there. The evening was pleasant and with the music and lights in the park it was great fun. The courses are challenging but very safe. Younger kids 5/6 will have a tough time as they need to be taller but can run around with another adult while you do it. Certainly plan to spend the entire few hours down there.

Jitesh B — Google review

Very large rope course park. All levels of difficulty. I didn't even know such a large course existed in my neighborhood. Very well organized. Kids loved it.

The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring is an absolute blast for anyone seeking outdoor excitement and adventure!I recently spent a day at this park, and it was an unforgettable experience. The variety of treetop courses and zip lines cater to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced climbers. The challenges were exhilarating, and the sense of accomplishment when completing a course was incredibly satisfying. The park is set in a beautiful natural environment, which adds to the overall ambiance. It's the perfect place to connect with nature while enjoying some adrenaline-pumping activities. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and safety-conscious, ensuring that everyone had a safe and enjoyable time. What truly sets The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring apart is its ability to create a sense of adventure and fun for people of all ages. Whether you're looking for a family outing, a team-building event, or a thrilling solo adventure, this park has you covered.I left with a huge smile on my face and a strong desire to return for more fun and adventure. If you're seeking an outdoor adventure that's both challenging and incredibly fun, I wholeheartedly recommend The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring. It's an experience you won't want to miss!

This is the second year in a row that we have brought 20 or more college students for fun in the trees, and the Adventure Park did not disappoint! The staff was super helpful at every step of the way, such as getting our bags and supplies to our fire pit site and even lighting the fire for us. The students had a blast and especially enjoyed swinging and climbing under the lights! (And we really loved that the Adventure Park sent all of us a link to the photos they took of our group.) I highly recommend this experience for everyone, from individuals to larger groups :-)

Julie O — Google review

The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, making sure that we had all the necessary equipment and safety information before we began. The course consisted of several zip lines and a variety of rope obstacles, including rope bridges, tightrope walks, and swinging logs. Each obstacle was challenging but achievable, and it was a great way to test our skills and push ourselves out of our comfort zones. The zip lines were definitely the highlight of the course. We were able to soar through the trees and take in the breathtaking views from above. The rush of adrenaline was incredible, and it was a unique way to experience the natural beauty of the area. The course was well-maintained and the equipment was in excellent condition. We felt safe and secure at all times, which allowed us to fully enjoy the experience without any worries.

Michael D — Google review

Breathtaking forest in the fall, even if you don't go for all the amazing aerial rope courses and zip lines. The course is difficult! You should have good stamina and be prepared to put some effort in. The place was swarming with kids which means the obstacles and particularly the zip lines get quite congested but if you're easy going and flexible you can just choose another course. The place says it's rated the best aerial park on the USA and we believe it! Also safety is extremely good throughout the park and the staff are watchful and friendly. Highly recommend. Would be great if they would offer adults only sessions.

Si B — Google review

Tons of fun with a great range of difficulty from easy to challenging. The zip lines were great fun

We had an incredible experience here - really never been to anything like it. I highly recommend reserving your tickets in advance if possible! But even if you didn't, you should still go, this place is so cool. Be sure to wear good sturdy shoes with grip and comfy clothes you can put a harness over. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The courses have excellent shade (though you will still get hot climbing around in the summer!) There were several water stations available. The gift shop is super cute. We loved our experience and can't wait to come back!

Charis E — Google review

the visit started out pretty bad. the staff member (pictured) at the check in desk was super passive aggressive and chastised us for not booking tickets in advance.to be honest most of the staff weren’t really willingly helpful. they all seemed annoyed and uninterested.for the cost of a ticket i would think the owners would spend some time training staff on customer service.the food was pretty ok, but needs work on presentation.the actual courses were pretty good and were separated into different levels of difficulty.there weren’t any helmets even though the pics show ppl wearing them on their website.i would return, but lower my expectations of staff assisting.

I have the only ever done one other ropes course and let me tell you that The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring is the hands down, absolute BEST experience!!! The entire experience was incredible and we will definitely go again, and again, and again! I love the fact that kids can participate and that it's so family friendly. The other ropes course I attended was only for participants over 100 lbs and the safety equipment was very hard to use and maneuver with. The Adventure Park is open to kids ages 5 and up, and my two kids were able to do 99% of the obstacles we tried. The employees were knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. The course was huge, so much fun, and challenging. 10/10, 5/5 stars, A+, you get the idea. Yes it is expensive at first glance, but that's for a top-of-the-line experience that includes 3 hours of just climbing time. I highly recommend you go, and take your friends too!

Daughter's 10th birthday was an awesome success!!! We had a fantastic time! They were very thorough in making sure everyone understood all of the rules and how to gear up and get through the courses. The night time was awesome as it lit up at the end of our climb time. Totally recommend!!

Sights & Landmarks

The Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center is a renowned destination that features scenic trails and an indoor museum dedicated to the Civil War. In 2008, the center moved to a state-of-the-art facility costing $103 million, offering visitors an exceptional experience. The center offers informative movies and knowledgeable guides for students, making it an ideal location for history lovers of all ages.

My wife needed a wheelchair and the staff were really helpful in getting her one and they helped at all the exhibit entrances. The cyclorama is completely different in a very good way from the use of lights, simulated cannon and gunfire and the narration of events. I went last time 25 years ago but this time they brought it to life. When it gets close to 5 be ready to exit quickly and that includes the gift shop. The rest rooms are cordoned off too.If you have a disabled member of your family take them to the drop off point with benches and then go to the disabled parking which is a 1/4 mile walk to the front entrance.

The Visitor Center and park for magnificently preserved. Highly recommend a guided bus tour. They do have audio tours that you can drive through at the park. Keep in mind this is a vast expanse of property with many monuments to see. The Visitor Center was brand new and very well organized and layout engaging displays. The movie experience is well worth the money.

Great experience with the family. One of the rangers was amazing teaching our daughter more about Gettysburg. We enjoys the self guided tour (the app is free and has audio to go with the tour) and the monuments had great descriptions to them. Really felt Abraham Lincoln’s words while reading the Gettysburg address at the cemetery.

Kyle J — Google review

This place is absolutely great! No matter what age you are, you will always find something interesting here, and if you love history, this is the place to go. We arrived around 8:00 AM and there was barely anyone there, but shortly after it filled up with tons of visitors. Even though it was crowded, the experience was still awesome, and we got to see everything about the war at Gettysburg and it’s history. The layout is very well, and most of the things I saw I still think about whenever I’m in history class. I recommend this place to all, and it is especially good to teach your children about history at somewhere where they will find it fun!

Clifton N — Google review

I have promised myself many years ago to make this trip to this hallowed ground and I finally made it. The aura of this place is unique and the monuments, along with the excellent museum can really touch the visitor. I feel blessed for this experience.

Movie in the Visitor’s Center and 360 degree painting of Pickett’s Charge were very good. But the highlight of our visit was the personalized tour of the Battlefield with licensed guide Les Fowler. We signed up for the 3 hour tour and it was more than worth it. He personized it and knew we were coming from Minnesota so he made sure to spend time at the monument to the First Minnesota Regiment. But even more than that he made the battle understandable and the significance of each of the 3 days. He knew the personalities of the significant people and how that affected decisions. He knew about the monuments. He explained how the battle progressed and took us to places where we could see and understand all the positions of each part of the armies. It was amazing. He answered every question. I was most interested in the horses I especially liked the sculptures of General Reynolds horse Fancy and General Meade’s horse Old Baldy. Les knew a lot about them and the sculptures too. I highly recommend if you are going to take the time to visit Gettysburg to take a personal tour and you will be lucky if you get Les for your guide.

NA H — Google review

We had a limited amount of time to explore the battlefield, and we had not realized how large the battlefield is, and how many monuments there were to visit. Our first stop was the Visitor's Center and a guide there suggested a few key spots we could check out in the short 1.5 hours we had. This was perfect. Of course, now we want to go back! One could easily spend 1 - 2 days here. I also like that you can see most of everything free of charge. You can opt to pay for extras that I'm sure enhance the experience, but the Visitor's Center, auto tour and walking trails are free.

Gabrielle S — Google review

I think should be a must for anyone. I was definitely surprised by the amount of foreigners that were visiting. The history in the museum and the surrounding areas is spectacular. Definitely take the auto tour if you don't do a bus. It's definitely worth it. It does take at least 2 hours to do the auto tour. You do need tspend the money and do the museum.

Doug A — Google review

Was in the area and could only spend 2hrs there, but we saw a lot on a piece of the driving tour and the fastest trip through the museum known to man.Even with limited time, it was so impressive that I'll go back with more time in my pocket. The battlegrounds are free, but the museum cost $12 and some change or $15+ for the full experience.

Honakerm — Google review

Spent 3 hours touring the visitors center as there is so much to see! The Cyclorama, the film and museum were all top notch, professionally produced, informative and amazing to see. Highly recommend seeing this visitor center. Seeing the museum before touring the military park will help understand the battlefield and how the battle unfolded.

B P — Google review

One of the most interesting and historical places in America. We started at the Visitors Center and found out you can do a self guided auto tour with narraration about each area. It takes you in order of the fighting in Gettysburg and describes what happened there. You literally could spend a month here, and still not be able to take it all in. I was able to get a much better idea of the strategy and learn more about how each state participated.

Rich O — Google review

I never served in the military and was never that much of a history buff, but the experience did give me a new appreciation for the freedoms we tend to take for granted.Reading each of the engravings and the stories behind them, makes you realize how great a sacrifice was made by those who were determined to stand up for what they believed in!! Truly remarkable!!Looking across the vast, open fields, imagining the sheer bravery, chaos and sacrifice of those men was genuinely inspiring to me.There are also walking paths for those who are adventurous!I may have to post a second review to display my photos, since there are so many. There were so many monuments, unfortunately, I had to actually stop taking photos to continue on with my trip. But I’m going to use that as an excuse to come back again… lol.

Ann M — Google review

Amazingly done so well. The one year family pass was cheaper than a regular admission. So.. we are now members. I only saw about 1/2 of the museum so coming back is a plus. I can express how well done this museum is. My childhood memories can compete with my adult experience. The video narrated by Morgan freeman is a great place to start. The app for this area is detailed and. Done better than anything I have seen. Next time I come I want to do a bus tour! Built to accommodate many people didn’t feel crowded!

Desmond L — Google review

Go! I would go back here every year if I could. We were really blessed to have gotten an extraordinarily intelligent tour guide. For the people that do not know, to pass the tour guide exam for the battlefields is extremely difficult. There's even been many articles written about this. For the sake of this country, our brave soldiers and just the history alone, this is a must-do on everybody's vacation list! Go & emerge yourself in seeing & hearing what it took for freedom!

Danse M — Google review

More history than can ever be absorbed in one day exists in this museum. This is a great place to start your journey of the war that took place on Gettysburg. I learned things while in this place I hadn't known before. There are so many weapons, men fighting for a cause, and the expanse of the battlefield is awe-inspiring. From this museum, it's not hard to download the app that takes you to different places on the battlefield and learn what happened and who was there fighting. Take your time, if you have it, because it's extensive. We went on a weekday and it was busy so I can't imagine what it would look like on a weekend in the summer. Take plenty of water and an open mind while touring the battlefield. Absorb it and take it all in to get the best experience while here!!!

Aunt N — Google review

The short film and cyclorama painting were worth seeing, but I expected a museum with more artifacts, considering the fee. I would have appreciated a longer film with more detail about the battle, too. The battlefield(s) would have been more understandable. A moving and worthwhile visit, nevertheless.

Deborah S — Google review

We arrived in the last hour before the museum closed. It didn’t make sense for us to buy tickets. But there was still a number of interesting exhibits just in the large lobby to look at with no ticket required, above and beyond the gift shop. There are also well-marked and paved paths along the grounds leading to other outdoor battle sites of interest which we were able to avail ourselves of even after the welcome center closed. Outdoor signs gave context too so we had a good idea what we were looking at, all without having to buy a ticket. Pretty cool, Gettysburg!

Jason T — Google review

This is one of the best museum experiences you can have. The museum is filled with history. Don't miss the movie and rotunda experience. The battlefield is HUGE! I recommend doing the auto tour if this is your first visit. There is a beautiful cafeteria with plenty of choices if you get hungry. If your bringing your own food thier are plenty of picnic tables and benches.

Rob S — Google review

I highly recommend making the visitor center your first stop. The staff was very helpful and guided us in all of our options and ways to see everything. This is a good place to get an understanding of the battle and the history of the war. The museum is filled with authentic pieces from the battle and it really brings you to the emotions that had to fill the battlefields. The cemetery is quite an honor to be able to walk through and pay our respects to the people that shaped our country to what it is today. The loss of thousands of people is very somber and you can walk peacefully through the lands that people were fighting war on. Well worth the trip and I'd definitely recommend it to any American who is lacking gratitude for their freedom!

Robert G — Google review

So well done! Definitely do the cyclorama and a guided tour. We did the bus tour with Gary...he was amazing! After the bus tour we went through the museum. Suggest doing museum 1st, then bus tour. The videos presented throughout the museum are awesome! Very well done. They also have representatives from Gettysburg tourism to suggest things to do

Cemetery

The Gettysburg National Cemetery in Pennsylvania is a historical landmark that serves as a memorial to the Union soldiers who lost their lives during the American Civil War. It was established in 1863 and features the resting place of 3,512 brave soldiers. The cemetery is open daily for visitors to pay homage to these fallen heroes and appreciate its beautiful grounds. Additionally, it serves as an important reminder of our nation's past and represents a significant piece of national history.

Another National Park Service outstanding property. Rich in history and scenic beauty, this is a must visit when in the area. Nice paved parking lots on both sides of the property. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. I had full bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming.

Beautiful grounds, and a wonderful tribute to our fallen and our National history.

BcOneSeven — Google review

If you love history like I do, this is the place you must visit. So many sacrificed it all, young and old. This is a special place for me. A must on your stop in Gettysburg.

William G — Google review

The cemetery is free to visit, and so are the 3 daily guided tours. The history is so moving and it’s easy to get choked up when hearing about everything. I highly recommend the 5:30pm tour followed by Taps at 7pm. (But only if you want to cry.)

Bethany A — Google review

I was there in June and stayed at a hotel right across the street from it. I walked around and paid my respects to various soldiers both from the union and from the confederate side. I was very touched by this visit. I felt I was being watched but excepted by their spirits. The first two pictures below are of union soldiers from Illinois from the state I live in.

A great place to visit if you’re interested in United States history. Here you can see the graves of soldiers who fought in Gettysburg as well as the site of Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address.

Hannah — Google review

This is a very nice cematary. It's sad to see all tge soldiers killed here. We went on a perfect day with a breeze. The trees are so beautiful as well. Loved walking around here and it's in the perfect spot.

KJ's R — Google review

I loved seeing the battle field's to sit and think of what happened here. To see our own fighting against our own for a better life for all. Both sides had their reasons. Both sides understood the cost. Now, we live in a world where no one understands the cost of freedom. Now, everyone looks the other way and forgets.I served in 2-2 Infantry for 10 years. A lot of the pictures are of 2-2 Infantry.Dedicated to my fallen brothers.

Dove — Google review

A very moving place to visit. It was emotional. This is our history, and we hope it will forever be preserved. People were very respectful as they walked through.

Donna S — Google review

Our motel was close too here. We walked it ourselves in a self guided tour. Lots of status and plaques too read. So many people died it really gives you more of a perspective on the sacrifices that were made. I couldn't believe all the graves marked unknown. You can easily walk through here in under two hours. So many rabbits were running around and were not even scared of us as we approached. If you have small children they will definitely be bored walking through here. Part of the cemetery was closed and blocked off so we were unable too walk it.

Nicole G — Google review

The experience at Gettysburg was a solemn venture. It is a free self-guide tour, or if you want a more detailed experience, there are available tour guides in the area. Our family choose the self guided exploration of the grounds. It was an honor to walk among the beautiful landscape, immaculate stones, and to see the craftsmanship of the monuments here. There is a bit of walking, so make sure to bring some water or even a snack. The park can be fully explored in few hours. There was a parking lot adjacent to the park that had adequate parking. There is also a museum on the grounds, but it was not open when we visited here. What a great source of American history for the family! A must see if you’re traveling in the area!

Tref — Google review

We have been to the Gettysburg Soldiers National Cemetery several times; however, this year we had the opportunity to experience all of the flags on the graves during Memorial Day. Was a great site to see and experience. Full blog post and video on our website.

We went on a Sunday morning, which was perfect. We were the only people there. The quiet added to the stillness and solemn nature of the location. The monuments are magnificent. The sheer number of grave markers is daunting. Parking is easy, across the street, which is cool, as it keeps the cemetery quieter.

BB — Google review

What a experience when we walked around the cemetery among so many graves…..so much history, which keep reminding us don’t forget the past and learn from the past…..The cemetery is very close to the National Military Park visitor center and museum, an easy two minutes drive. There is a parking lot right across the street from the entrance of the cemetery, no vehicles are allowed in the cemetery.

Anna X — Google review

Although there are many monuments, there are none that clearly identify where exactly Lincoln gave his timeless Gettysburg Address. Who would no since there are no pictures or vids? No matter! If you listen closely, you can almost hear the speech whispering in the wind. Walking among the graves of fine soldiers is a solemn and humbling experience. I’m honored to have visited. I highly recommend going and giving your children a somber learning experience.

Germ S — Google review

Great Cemetery loaded with monuments and history. Definitely worth a stop. November 1863 Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address just a short distance from this location. The Gettysburg Address monument and the Soldiers Monument are two main attractions in the Cemetery although you'll also have thr graves of over 3500 union soldiers and Jenny Wade.

Museum offering indoor & outdoor exhibits on US military history, plus a library/archive & events.

I can not believe what an amazing experience this museum is! It is one of the best laid out and interactive places that I have ever visited. It is a must stop for people of all ages. I went with my 15 yr old son and we spent over 4 hours touring the museum and grounds and wish we were there longer! Neither of us can stop talking about the experience. The staff and volunteers are outstanding, friendly, and accommodating to any request that you may have. They are knowledgeable and always willing to talk about various topics in military history. The gift shop has a wide selection of clothing, books, and souvenirs at reasonable prices. They even have a section of used books for purchase at a cheap price.

Michael E — Google review

This place is beyond amazing. For any military lover this is the place for you. They have a ton of stuff inside to see and interact with. They have an interactive shooting range and also an interactive parachute game. They have a path to walk around outside and see military helicopters and tanks as well as bunkers you can walk down. They have a nice gift shop to look at, and the staff are beyond amazing.

Amazing! Extremely interactive and historical look at Army history from Revolutionary War time thru Gulf War. Lots of photos, clear explanations and original equipment built into full scale displays that can be walked through, entered, etc... Both honors our military and those who served in a respectful way as well as accurately depicts conditions and hazards our troops experienced. We only walked outside and did not get to see the museum indoors. Please be sure to allow at least 2 hours or more for this amazing facility. Also, note that the majority of this facility both indoors and out is handicap accessible. Five star

So glad we discovered this place. It's a wonderful way to view, learn, and preserve the history of the US Army! Great parking, admission is free (paid for by our taxes), that is. Enjoy it! Great for a family outing. Need a full day to really go through everything, but it's self paced! We visited during the Army Expo 24 event.

Michael P — Google review

I recommend only walking on cooler days, as there are very few trees and shady places to walk though. It was a good little trail just to cruise through. Tons of wood bees near the back end of the trail. It was interesting to read about what they had showcased there.

Ainslie D — Google review

Took my parents to visit since my dad is a military history nerd. We had a lot of fun and learned so much! I would highly recommend visiting as something to do on a random weekend. It's all free too!The indoor exhibit is super interesting. I highly recommend getting the solider cards from the information deck. The interactive exhibit are fun and add a great personal touch to the history you're reading. There's a LOT of information so plan to take your time to get the full affect. There's also some fun stuff that I think kids will love like a parachute simulation and virtual shooting range. The outdoor path is awesome! The signs scattered throughout explain what you're seeing and provide information as current as 2023! The German bunker and the World War 1 trench were my favorite but I also enjoyed the tanks and helicopter. There is limited shade along the outdoor path, so I high suggest bringing a water bottle out with you and wearing your sunscreen.

Excellent place to walk around see history of war. In building (free admission donation)lot of army history and gift shop and some food vending machines person front is very nice knowledgeable thank you.

This was our first family visit, and we were very impressed. The breadth of topics represented was amazing. We had mainly come to see the exhibit about the role of comics in the military, and it was fascinating. In addition, we enjoyed the interactive elements in the museum. My husband and I both rode on the simulated parachute, and sat in a bunker. We finished off our visit in the gift shop. We bought tshirts, but there were many other relevant items for sale.We will definitely return.

Sarah W — Google review

I love their interactive exhibit and the trail is a fun and interesting place to walk!

Everett M — Google review

The exhibits are very nice. The problem is there are too many exhibits with very loud dialog. One exhibit features the same drill sergeant twice, one yelling orders, and the other one explaining her philosophy about the Army. Both are competing for attention, and neither winning. They just give you a headache. This is throughout the museum. Noise, noise, noise! There are military vehicles all along the grounds outside. It was such a beautiful day that we walked and saw them all. Appalachian Brewing Company has a restaurant at the golf course. Good prices and good food. Nice view too.A nice way to spend the day. Best of all...it's free!

John C — Google review

This place was an interesting surprise. We saw the military equipment from the thruway unaware of what it was, and took a chance visit. Loved the museum interaction and the many displays out on the paths. Great learning experience.

Wendy B — Google review

Great place to learn about the Army. So many exhibits and expansive grounds with trails for walking. So much to do here, you can enjoy a visit with a little time or spend all day.

Steve C — Google review

This is a very nice museum to visit if you like learning about history. There are many interactive things at the museum that make it unique compared to others. There is also a whole outside ground full of bunkers and cabins you can tour. A few on the interactive activities inside weren't accurate, like the gun shooting station or the telephone to listen to soldiers calling home, but other than that it was great!

Olivia H — Google review

I've been coming here for quite a while. So when my wife and I came home for a vacation, we decided to bring her sons here. They loved it, and I enjoyed sharing the experience with them. The walk-through inside is amazing. And filled with great facts and displays about the army. The outdoor trail takes you through all time periods related to the US Army. It's a great place for a day trip, and you can visit historic Carlisle.

Jeff ( — Google review

If you or your kids are into army stuff this is a must visit! You can learn so much about different periods of conflict around the globe and the involvement of the US Army. Impressive and well maintained collection of stationary exhibits, some of them very interactive and ready to be touched and felt. Lovely surroundings! Great gift shop where you can get your own dog tags made. Impressive way to honor our heroes!

Jan H — Google review

Excellent grounds to walk to explore historical military replicas and transportation vehicles. Inside is filled with such education. Definitely a must stop. There is something here for all ages.

Becca V — Google review

My wife and I home school our children, so we are always looking for field trip ideas to break up the monotony of just being stuck at home every day doing your schooling. We like to get the kids out of the house and still have it counted as a learning experience. We definitely found that at the US Army Heritage and Education Center. The kids learned a little, got hands-on with some of the very detailed exhibits, and even got a little exercise on the mile long Heritage Trail outside the Education Center. There was so much to see and do. It kept us all occupied for hours. The employees that we came in contact with were all great, full of information, and ready to answer any questions with very enthusiastic attitudes. Overall, this place is huge and filled with so much content. I definitely recommend it for families who might be home schooling their children, but honestly for anyone who is looking for something to fill their day and looking to learn a little something as well. Thanks for a great field trip.

Michael M — Google review

Went there with the family and it was a great experience! There is an indoor museum with displays to both look at and interact with. A couple displays may be too graphic for children but it really is a great learning experience for Children and adults! There is also a hiking trail on the side of the facility with tanks, forts, and a couple helicopters to see. All this along with a gift shop! 😁❣️

Visitors can explore meticulously curated displays, engaging with artifacts and learning about the soldiers who shaped our nation's destiny. The informative presentations provide a comprehensive understanding of the Army's evolution, from its inception to modern-day operations. This immersive experience fosters a deep appreciation for the men and women who have served, showcasing their unwavering commitment to protecting freedom and upholding values. The US Army heritage is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to honor and understand the indelible mark the Army has left on American history.

My only complaint is it's run by the army. #airForceIt's a great museum and the little gift shop is really well populated. It's aimed at all ages and is good with lots of touch and learn things for kids.Free entrance. Donation requesting. You're able to get a self guided tour.

Park draws kids & animal lovers for reptiles, petting zoo & safari rides through a 150-acre terrain.

More than I expected. This is a great place to spend the day with your family without breaking the bank. The property is very large with a lot of different animals to see. Admission was very reasonable and they were very organized with parking and entering the park. There are several places to get food and four of us had lunch with drinks for under sixty dollars. The safari was great and they took plenty of time to stop and talk about the animals while you got to feed them. It was a great experience and a place that I think would be nice to visit a few times a year.

Lake Tobias was such an amazing experience!! We took my daughter for her birthday and she had a great time. It's not a huge park but there's so much to see and you could definitely spend all day exploring. The safari was the best part! Our tour guide was great, and we loved seeing all the animals run up to the bus for snackies and petting. Admission was very affordable and will definitely be coming back.

Kristina — Google review

We love this park. The entry and safari ride fees are totally reasonable. Parking is easy and free. We travelled with a bunch of teenage kids, so being able to pack a lunch and eat at one of the many picnic areas made the trip budget friendly. And the animals are so cool, especially the petting area.

R S — Google review

We recently visited Lake Tobias Wildlife Park, and overall, it was a pleasant experience, especially for families with young kids. While we enjoyed our time, I would say there were fewer animals than we expected. It’s not quite the expansive zoo you might find in larger cities, but the animals they do have are well cared for and seem to be in good health, which is important. The safari ride, which is one of the main attractions, was just okay. It’s a fun concept, riding in an open-air vehicle through a large enclosure where animals roam freely, but the variety of animals wasn’t as impressive as we thought it might be. The guide provided some interesting facts, though, which made the ride enjoyable enough.Where Lake Tobias really shines is its petting zoo. This area is fantastic for kids! They can get up close with goats, sheep, and other friendly animals. The interactive element was a big hit with our children, and they loved feeding and petting the animals. The park itself is clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout our visit. While it might not be a place we’d visit frequently, it’s certainly a nice day trip for families with young children looking for a low-key outdoor adventure.

Asif R — Google review

This was the best day ever for me, my husband and my mother in law. The park staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure we could get my mother in law to all the exhibits and take her on her wheelchair on the safari tour. Mike who drives the "limo" golf cart and mike who drove the safari bus were amazing. Somehow the Mike with the golf cart would always find us in need of him and tell us to call for him when we were done at an exhibit and when I didnt and I started pushing her somewhere, he would find us and help us once again! It was like ths whole park was there for us and it was the most special day I could ever have imagined. In a world where it is SO HARD to find handicap accessible entertainment, there is Lake Tobias. I cant believe they dont charge more. I am so thankful, you made our entire year. You guys are an absolute blessing for Pa and this world is lucky to have this amazing place in it. 30 out of 10. Best place ever.

Angie O — Google review

Truly enjoy this place each time we come! Loved seeing the lions in a much bigger space and all of the fun active animals. Also the sweetest staff ever. Renee was a great tour guide and driver on the safari. And the sweet security/first aid man who tried to help with a splinter in our littlest was caring and beyond kind. (Just so he is aware, we were able to get the splinter out once we got home).

Ashley I — Google review

We have been to Lake Tobias many times and it never disappoints. $38 for two people to have 4 hours of fun. In my eyes, the price is well worth it. The safari ride on the bus tour is an experience that you cannot find anywhere else in the area. There are many animals that you can see up close that you would probably not find in a traditional zoo experience. I would recommend showing up close to the opening time because the parking fills up quick and it gets busy quick. Also make sure to stop by the reptile building for the 20 minute reptile show. Overall, great place to find entertainment for the whole family.

We took the almost two hour drive from Baltimore and had a great time! This was our first time but it won't be our last. I was amazed at how many animals were there, that I had never heard of, and I'm an animal lover. We experienced the safari and enjoyed hearing all the interesting facts about the animals on the trail. We even had a chance to see the exotic animal presentation and the petting zoo. And to experience all of this for only $19!!!!! This place was a great decision for our date ( we're adults but kids at heart) Thanks Lake Tobias Wildlife Park and all your friendly employees. 👋🏾

Tiffany — Google review

Absolutely loved this place. Plenty of bathrooms for little bladders. So much to see and interact with! You HAVE to do the safari. It's amazing, informative and so fun. Food purchase before hand and it's only $4 to feed them. It's a once in a life time experience and it's absolutely beautiful. The animals are happy and well taken care of unlike other parks I've been to with the kids. Parking is very accommodating. Just make sure you're ready for lots of walking! There is golf carts they have around to accommodate those with disabilities. And food places reasonably priced. Also loved seeing the reptile shows throughout the day! ❤️

Abagail J — Google review

This was a great location with lots to do. They have larger zoo animals like lions and Tigers, they have a petting and feeding zoo, they have a cute safari ride to feed the more mild mannered animals, and they have reptile encounters too. They have a museum, gift shop and places to eat. The food is fairly priced and pretty tasty. Employees there in my experience were friendly and helpful!

R K — Google review

This is a very neat little place. Our visit was not crowded. You can spend 3 - 4 hours here fairly easy. The Safari Tour is the big attraction and it did not disappoint. However, there are several other attractions/exhibits that are neat.I recommend get on as early safari ride as possible. Seems like the early tours fill up quick.Plenty of restroom facilities and well maintained. A number of food options with several places to sit and eat. Parking is a little confusing if you have never visited. They have multiple parking areas. Seems like most people entered the lower area.Several animal feeding stations throughout the park. The history museum is worth a few moments of your time.Need a small activity that doesn't take the whole day-unless you want it to. This is the place.

I used to visit here as a child and it was great back then. It has grown and evolved into an amazing, family oriented, fun and exciting place!!! Lake Tobias has so many different kinds of animals and so many opportunities to get close to them! We got to feed Giraffes, all kinds of horned/antlered animals on the safari ride, and even pet snakes and alligators! Truly an amazing experience for all. If you live in PA or any surrounding state, this is a must visit location.

Zach V — Google review

My sisters and I came through that direction from Pittsburgh to attend an event in Reading, PA and found this place online in an effort to find something fun to do on the way and we had an amazing time! Prices were great, exhibits were beautiful and spacious, and the place is huge. We spent half of what we would’ve spent during a visit to our home zoo. And our safari tour guide, Todd, was awesome! Whatever that man’s wage is, double it. Thank you for an amazing day!

Christina S — Google review

Lake Tobias is a perfect place for people of all ages. My group arrived early. There is plenty of parking and lots of bathrooms throughout the park. The animals look well taken care of and have big exhibits. I loved the safari ride because you were able to pet all the animals and feed them. Be prepared to walk a lot!

Aaliyah E — Google review

This was the first trip to Lake Tobias for my family and we will definitely be returning again. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The animals all looked and acted like they were being very well taken care of and were happy. ( there was a bear that was looking not so happy he might need a bit of extra attention)The safari ride was amazing. Don't be Intimidated by the long line there are many busses and the wait is worth it. If you have young children get them some snacks at the snack shack at the beginning of the line. Definitely suggest you get a few cups of food to take along because the animals will walk right up to the bus waiting to eat right from your hand.

Lori M — Google review

This was our first trip to the park! It was an amazing adventure. For my family the 2-hour card ride was well worth it. My 3-year-old daughter loved being able to get so close to the animals on the safari ride. It was a great experience even for my son who is just over a year old. The other cool thing in my opinion is it is very reasonably priced. I would have figured ticks, Food, and little gifts from the gift shop would have been well over $100. The nice thing about this place is you can bring a packed lunch and they have a bunch of pavilions thought the park. With the safari ride it definitely makes for some unforgettable memories.

Jordan K — Google review

Awesome little wildlife park! Todd was our safari ride tour guide & he was great—talk about dad jokes! I love that this place isn’t like most zoo’s that only have small enclosures for their animals, there was plenty of space for all animals. Definitely worth the visit.

Tia — Google review

My children had an absolute ball, the tour guide Nikita and zookeeper Brandon were engaging and very friendly, we were part of reptile show and the safari and both were amazing. They made education fun. We will definitely visit again.

Stacey K — Google review

This is a great place, very kid and elderly friendly. I took my 80 year old dad here. I was surprised by how reasonably priced it was for admission. We spent about 3+ hours here and didn't see everything. They had lots of free roaming animals. We loved the safari ride. The animals came right up to the bus so we could hand feed them. The ride was about 35 minutes, with no wait time.

Don B — Google review

Enjoyable experience. Liked feeding a variety of animals. Some of the lines were long for the safari and food, but the wait wasn't terrible. Really enjoyed the reptile show and seeing the sloth! Also liked that the restrooms were air conditioned.

Amusement park

Water & Amusement Parks

Hershey Park is an amusement park that features rides such as roller coasters and thrill rides for adults, family-friendly rides, and water attractions for kids. The park has a Boardwalk section that offers a water park with slides, waves pool and more.

Fun, relatively clean park with lots of entertaining rides. Fun for the whole family! If you like coasters this is one of the best bangs for your buck. A tip, look at the prices of the fast track to see how busy it will be on your visit. The lower the price, the less busy the park will be. Most of all, have a good time!

John R — Google review

This was my first time visiting for the holiday season. It was very pretty but overally crowded in some of the attractions. We weren't able to see everything they had to offer because they closed so early, even on a Friday. Chocolate World was closed as well, and so we're most of the rides. It was a nice experience but I wouldn't come back during the holidays. I feel like it was too expensive for what it was.

Samantha — Google review

My family and I had a wonderful time at Hershey! The weather was perfect for the activity and the crowd was fair. The wait for the ride weren’t bad either. The park was clean and the atmosphere was welcoming. We went during Mother’s Day weekend and it was a great time. The water park was not open just yet. I am from PA and still live here so my commute was not bad (1 1/2 hours). Go go go!!!!! Hershey park is a wonderful time and the plus is it is perfect for all ages!!

Shelly R — Google review

Beautiful day. The food was decent. Didn't seem too packed, but you still need to pay extra for fast track if you want to get on all the big rides. Otherwise, you're standing in line all day. We did go on Sunday with shorter hours, which made it worse, but still had a great day with family.

Keith C — Google review

Park was enjoyable! We don't ride rides so we solely came for dark nights. It was a Good time to just walk around and see the actors dressed up! And got food passes to try different food and drink items in the park.

Very fun park with lots of different rides to choose from, such as dropping towers or frightening roller coasters. However, I believe that pricing has become too much, especially with parking. I was able to purchase parking for $25 for a general parking spot, but the regular price is $35, which is outrageous for a parking spot. I also feel that team members could have been nicer with fast pass. One member of my party was disabled and had an accessible fast pass, but the team members were very rude about letting us pass, even with a disability. On the other hand, the rides were very amusing and entertaining. I believe that Hershey Park is a great day trip for children and adults alike, but be weary of pricing and staff occasionally.

We had such a blast at Hershey Park!!! The kids are finally old enough to be able to enjoy the rides and explore the entire park, which was so much fun!!I loved seeing all the animals, going on the low-key rides and eating at the restaurant and shopping at the big gift shop!A few recommendations: get your tickets in advance! Pay the extra money for the fast pass because the lines to roller-coasters have long wait times.... if you like to eat their restaurant located in the front of the park, make reservations beforehand because the wait time is super long....My only complaint is that the bathrooms are kinda of gross🤢 special towards the end of the day.... so make sure you have baby wipes for your hands!!Also, get there when the park first opens....Can't wait to go for the Halloween♡

I would love to give this park 5 stars. It is a beautiful park that includes a theme park, water park, zoo and Chocolate world. They have fantastic rides for everyone, including a great coaster selection! You can easily spend 2-3 days here. The food was very good and overall the prices were reasonable. And don't miss out on the shakes and Sundays at Chocolate world. 😋My issues with the park are line jumping and ride operations. On our first day at the park we had 40-50 people cut line in front of us. Our second day we had even more issues than that!! There were 2 times employees were right there and didn't say a word to the people cutting.Ride operations, at most rides, were average to below average compared to other parks. Some rides, like Candymonium, were terrible. Candymonium was taking 3-5 minutes to dispatch a train. There was a constant backup of all 3 trains and this is a high capacity coaster that should be chewing through riders! Overall we had a good time, however, these 2 issues really impact a guest experience and is something that needs to be addressed.

We went to chocolate town in Hershey and road the trolley and made candy bars. It is a fun experience for all ages and brings out the kid in all of us. Great family trip and a trip down memory lane for couples. They offer a theme park that looked like a fun thing to do with the family. The food in the town was great and highly recommend you take time to explore.

FYI, With a single ticket purchase you get to preview the park 1.5 hours the day before closing time. So if you plan to visit the whole day on Saturday and Friday closes at 10pm you can come in at 8:30pm on Friday at no extra charge, even the parking is free on Friday. You also want to purchase parking tickets ahead of time because it’s cheaper than paying at the gate. The Hershey Park app is a good tool to see the wait times for the rides. IMHO, this park is the best value for the money. Before the entrance you have the Hershey Chocolate Tour which is a free sit down ride for the whole family that tells you about the history and how they make the chocolate, and at the end they give you a free piece of chocolate. The rides are unbelievable, and my favorite is Wildcats Revenge. Auntie Mortem’s Abaattoir was my favorite haunted house. The pig head masks were very cool.I had an issue that was my fault which would have ruined my vacation and I went to Guest Services and I ended up speaking with a supervisor and he understood my problem and he did the right thing and made it right. All I have to say is they have the best customer service and I will be a customer for the rest of my life. The staff for the rides are also very polite and professional. They take safety very seriously at the park.

Hersheypark is awesome!! This was the first stop on a cross country adventure I’m embarking on with my granddaughter and I’m so glad we did!The park was clean, the staff was friendly and happy to help anyone who needed it.They don’t accept cash ( which blew my mind… hey, I’m old school… what can I say)? But they do have “cash to card” machines that convert paper currency to a credit card that you can use to make purchases. So, it worked out well. There are several roller coasters to choose from, so everyone can experience the thrill! From the colossal size of “Candy Monium”, to the mid-sized “Wild Mouse”, or the somewhat docile ride of “Trail Blazer”, you just can’t go wrong! For those of you who remember Rocky Point, they even have the Music Express, which was an instant favorite for us, since we went on it several times!!The park also has ZooAmerica, which is a smaller sized zoo to walk through with well marked paths. Upon entering, be sure to get your hand stamped to re-enter the amusement park area when you’re done viewing the animals.Overall, it was well worth the trip and I’m glad I got to finally experience it with my granddaughter!

What a well designed park. Rides and coasters everywhere. Marketing not in your face despite it being a Hershey themed park. And everything was affordable from the food and beverages to the snacks and souvenirs.Best part of all was that so many “big” rollercoasters could be ridden by smaller kids. Our youngest was able to ride nearly every coaster and had the time of his life.It was very busy, so without a fast past you will be waiting over an hour for the most popular rides during the day. But after 4pm the lines disappear and you can get on any ride with barely any wait time.Highly recommend this park!!!

Ryan L — Google review

Fun experience! Wildcats roller coaster was my favorite. However, I’d recommend getting a fast pass. We got inside an hour after it opened and we waited 2 hours in line to get on one ride. So our time there was mostly spent in line and we didn’t get to see the whole park.

Awesome Reality,This place is everything I ever wanted and more. The rides were unpredictable as each one had its own twist of excitement. The cars displayed throughout the park were epic. Just check out the new 2010 off brand 4-person car escort to have your eyes blown away by the capability the car has. Finally, I got a chance to meet some of the characters there, and man, they sure love to bust a move. The environment was great, and the employees were good. However, 16.95 for a lemonade? 7 bucks for popcorn? 7 bucks for cotton candy? It is an unfortunate twist of events. Unfortunately, this type of pricing is just as bad as that one steakhouse in uptown manhattan. Even the characters couldn't save this park from getting 5 stars. Besides that, this park is perfect in every other way. Would highly recommend it. Just make sure to save a couple thousand of bucks, and you should be good.Reporting from Hershey © Park,That's all I'm going to say

JT966 — Google review

Hershey Park has some of the best roller coasters around. Once the kids hit Hershey Bar height requirements, lots of options open up, much more than at the Reese's Cup height. It's also kept clean, and lines weren't bad for an August weekend. The park is hilly and takes a bit of effort to cross if you aren't used to it.

Chris L — Google review

It was great, a bit expensive, but lots of fun 😀 the rides were great. I wish they lasted a little longer, but I had a wonderful time. However, if you ever want to see a Real tour of a Hershey factory, there is an actual running factory in Modesto, California. You can see how they actually make the chocolate and all the different candy. They have a small store as well. And give you a full-size candy bar at the end of the tour.

Pamela K — Google review

We went for the Creed Concert and Park. It wasn’t overly crowded on Friday, food and drinks at the park are your typical amusement park prices and quality. The flavored lemonades at some of the stands were good. The lines for rides weren’t terrible on Friday.Saturday, it was very crowded and the lines for rides were 30min-120+min, it was harder to get around due to the volume of people walking and the strollers.

Mercy E — Google review

We’ve gone every year for the past three years for day trips and it is 100% some of my favorite memories with my kids. The perfect mix of small medium big and VERY big rides. & The gift shops are Christmas gift heaven. I mean everyone has their fav candy right?!My favorite thing about this park is the short wait times. We like to go somewhat “off season” September-November and we literally ride every ride, some multiple times. You beat the heat that way too. Money well spent. It’s also incredibly clean.Since we only do day trips we are always able to do something different when we go. Realistically you could probably do all Hershey has to offer in 3 or 4 days. But even then… I promise you’ll want to go back 😎

Alyssa G — Google review

The best amusement park I’ve ever been to. So much fun. We managed to get all of the coasters which made my whole family happy. Good history!

Chaylea B — Google review

Great experience. The park was not very busy, so we were able to get on a ton of excellent roller coasters with less than 30 minute wait. The rides were not quite as cool or massive as Cedar Point but still better than the vast majority of amusement parks. They have at least 10 really solid coasters and a ton of smaller rides. They really know how to treat you like a human being. There are a ton of places to get water for free all over the park, which was super appreciated since the weather was in the upper 90s both days.Make sure to stop by the big store to the right before the park entrance. There is a cool animatronic factory tour and you get a free little hershey bar at the end.We planned in advance and got an unlimited fast track pass, this turned out to be a waste as the park was not busy. Theoretically they can sell out or raise the prices of fast passes, but I would recommend seeing how busy the park is the day of your visit before buying one after our experience and checking out ride wait times on other days on the app.

Nature & Parks

The Hershey Gardens is a large botanical garden and arboretum located in Hershey, PA. The gardens contain 23 acres of plants and flowers, including rare trees and a butterfly house. There is also a children's garden on site.

I've been coming to Hershey since I was too little to walk... this was my first trip to the Hershey Gardens... It's incredible. So beautiful. And the butterflies section is so cool. Definitely recommend 🦋

Rick S — Google review

So lovely here! If it weren't for the humidity, I could spend all day in the Butterfly Atrium! 🦋The gardens were well curated and manicured, making this a really peaceful spot to enjoy being in nature, listening to the breeze, water fountain, and birds. 😊🌳🌿🌹🌷⛲A great place to work remotely, read a book, get some thinking done, or go for a walk/jog to clear your mind.

I've been to several botanical gardens around the country and this one was one of the best I've found. The amazing collection of flowers and trees spread throughout the grounds is truly awe inspiring and well worth a trip. The grounds is large enough that even if there are others you don't even notice. Highly recommend!

Our visit to Hershey Gardens was an absolute delight from start to finish! Nestled in the heart of Hershey, this botanical gem offers a perfect blend of beauty, relaxation, and fun for the entire family. The grounds are impeccably maintained, with vibrant flower beds, serene walking paths, and a stunning array of plants and trees. The Butterfly Atrium was a highlight for our kids; they were fascinated by the colorful butterflies fluttering around and even landing on them! It was a magical experience that they still talk about. We also loved the Children's Garden, which is designed specifically with little ones in mind. Our kids enjoyed exploring the interactive exhibits and learning about nature in a hands-on way. The garden is well thought out, with plenty of shaded areas, benches for resting, and educational signage that made the visit both fun and informative. The seasonal displays were breathtaking, and it's clear that a lot of thought and care goes into every aspect of the gardens. We visited during the summer, and the blooming roses were absolutely stunning. The combination of natural beauty and family-friendly activities made Hershey Gardens a perfect destination for our day out.Overall, Hershey Gardens exceeded our expectations in every way. Whether you're a nature lover, a family with young children, or just looking for a peaceful escape, Hershey Gardens is a must-visit. We'll definitely be returning!

Hershey Gardens is a well curated experience that regardless of the time of year you will see new plants, new colors and find something you did not see the last time you were there. At the entrance you can chose to visit the butterfly arboretum or bypass and stroll the gardens, one of the main attractions are the acres of roses- I was concerned that coming in a heatwave in July we would miss the blooms but this was not the case- a crayola box full of blends and tones of variations of color scatter through the acres of roses, and the layering of plants in the garden provide a visual feast of colors; before entering the main building there is an entire embankment of pollinator plants that lead down the hillside. Regardless of how old the children are or whether they are not there, we enjoy the children’s garden; the trees are simply amazing. The history of the garden itself is something that someone could write home about - tribute garden, gift shop, it’s a lovely way to spend a couple hours in the heat of the summer. Always an anticipated trip. They have educational programs as well as less structured activities, and this last visit Zoo America also had a naturalist presence.

Enjoyed our stroll through the gardens. Extensive rose gardens. Fun Children’s area. Butterfly 🦋 garden is FULL of butterflies and knowledgeable docents. Indoor reception hall had benches so we could cool off from 90 degree heat, plus potted plants in interesting combinations. We will visit again!

Hershey Gardens is an absolute gem, especially if you’re a fan of butterflies. The butterfly atrium is a standout feature that transports you to a tropical paradise filled with vibrant, fluttering butterflies. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by a warm, humid environment that mimics the natural habitats of these delicate creatures. The variety of butterflies is impressive, with species from all over the world showcasing an array of colors and patterns. It’s a wonderful learning experience as well, with informative displays and friendly staff who are always eager to share interesting facts about the butterflies and their life cycles. The lush plant life within the atrium adds to the magical atmosphere. It’s not just about the butterflies; the whole setting is beautifully maintained, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts. Everywhere you look, there’s something captivating, from exotic flowers to delicate vines that create a harmonious environment for the butterflies.Beyond the butterfly atrium, Hershey Gardens offers an expansive outdoor garden area that’s equally enchanting. The themed gardens, such as the rose garden and Japanese garden, provide a serene walking experience with plenty of benches to sit and take in the beauty. The Children’s Garden is a fantastic addition for families, offering interactive elements that engage kids in nature and gardening.Overall, Hershey Gardens is a must-visit destination for anyone in the area. It’s a peaceful, educational, and visually stunning place that offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, a visit to Hershey Gardens, especially the butterfly atrium, is an experience you won’t forget.

Beautiful gardens as well as fantastic butterfly atrium. The staff was very friendly, and the grounds are clean and well-kept! This is a lovely change of pace for when you tire of CHOCOLATE! ☺️ We bought the tickets bundled with The Hershey Museum, so we saved a bit. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful gardens, butterfly house was a fun treat, the kids enjoyed the children's garden. Rose garden was adorable, Japanese garden was a lot of fun. The little store had some cute things. We had to buy one of the color changing in the sun shirts for the kids (like I had as a kid) and a sucker with ants on it to try. Would definitely go again.

It is one of the best gardens I have ever seen. I loved the beautiful butterfly park there. It houses various species of butterflies, Tarantulas and flogs. I have also seen Atlas Moth which is largest species of moths.Rose garden and other part of garden is beautiful. Thanks to the people who manage the operations.

Great time, as always. The gardens are kept well, and the facility offers a nice educational experience where several types of butterflies are available to view in person. Also, the main facility offers a gift shop, beverages, and air conditioning. The views are spectacular and contribute to an overall relaxing experience, with plenty of places to sit and take in the serenity.

Really beautiful and well maintained grounds. I quite enjoyed walking through and appreciating the area. There's a smaller section for children that is a ton of fun along with a garden that was planted by students. Stop by the butterfly atrium for another great experience, ton of free parking too, I liked it.

Spectacular. The tulips were in full bloom. The trees were blooming with some in leaf. The entire garden is meticulously manicured. There are several gardens that make up the complex. There is no printed map and you should photograph the one in the conservatory. A must see.

The Hershey Gardens is one of our most favorite places to visit when we are in Hershey. The rose gardens are absolutely stunning in early June! The arboretum, children’s garden, and butterfly house also make this trip very enjoyable and relaxing. All of the staff we have encountered have always been very courteous and friendly, especially in the butterfly house. There is a small gift shop located in the conservatory building as well. I definitely recommend an outing here at the gardens if you’re looking for a more relaxed way to spend time in the Hershey area!

We went on a weekday and it was almost empty :) huuge plus is a free parking ( I did not expect anything free in Hershey 🤣) Definitely liked their butterfly atrium. Many different butterflies to see super close and some might land on you too.

Iryna R — Google review

We stayed at the Hershey campground so we got a discount which was awesome, perks of staying at an affiliate hotel! Didn’t get to see the whole gardens it just was so so so hot out, but what we did see was beautiful. There is no strollers inside where the butterfly’s are just for safety of the butterflies, there’s stroller parking just around the corner from the atrium. A big plus for me is that they’re autism friendly, they had sensory backpacks (fcfs) you just give your ID and they hold it up at the ticket counter and once you return the backpack you get your ID back. Very awesome thing they offer ❤️ the staff is super friendly and are there to help!

Janae C — Google review

I have high standards for botanic gardens and someone with a membership at my local one, and I was more than impressed with Hershey Gardens! The butterfly room was incredible and packed with butterflies and moths. Having the fruit out to lure them to areas you could see them was such a smart idea and made them easy to find. The rose garden was a natural highlight, but the entire grounds were just lovely. It is mostly outdoors, so prepare to walk a bit and wear sunscreen.

The Hershey Story Museum tells the story of Milton S. Hershey, one of the most influential and successful businessmen in American history. The museum features interactive exhibits about his life, as well as limited-run exhibits on special occasions. Admission is free for all visitors, and it is a family-friendly museum that is perfect for anyone interested in learning more about Milton Hershey and his legacy.

This is a winner and we will return! It has been many years since I’ve been to the Hershey area and this was not here the last time we were. This museum tells the story of Milton Hershey in a clear and interesting way. The museum is interactive and engaging. The guides that are stationed throughout the museum are very helpful. We also participated in the Chocolate Lab where we made truffles. Our teacher was a bit boring but the experience was worth it. We finished our visit in the gift store which had an interesting selection. I can’t wait to try my chocolate soap! One important note for those of us that have limited mobility. There is an elevator and an easy to navigate museum. There are also ample benches throughout the museum to be able to enjoy the museum and be able to navigate comfortably. One problem I had was with the bathroom on the first floor. The handicap stall was not big enough to fit my walker. That was a challenge. However, they have a bathroom on the second floor that is handicap friendly. Also, I did not see handicap parking on the way in. We found a spot that was fairly close but it was a little awkward getting to the entrance.

I thought this place was super cool, Milton Hershey really created an entire community and it stemmed from confections. Kinda funny honestly. The history is rich, and there are plenty of interactive opportunities for the kids as well, it's a great museum, and definitely worth stopping by.

Ryan L — Google review

Great museum to learn everything there is to know about Milton Hershey and how the Hershey company came to be. The pricing was $15 for the museum and $15 for the Chocolate Lab. The Lab was cool, you learn about the Chocolate making process. You can also "make" a chocolate bar. IThey give you melted chocolate and you pour in a mold, decorate and they put it in the fridge to harden. We would definitely recommend the museum and maybe the Lab for kids.

Dave C — Google review

We visited this museum before leaving Hershey. We had such a good day out. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The interactive chip was a hit, my kids loved that component. I would love to visit again and listen more intently to all the stories. There was so much to do there, we could've easily spent another hour.

Samantha D — Google review

I love museums and those that tell a story. So much to do here. Chocolate tastings from around the world, chocolate lab - essentially hands on classes, and a whole lot of information. The Hershey’s did wonders for the area and it was pleasant being able to step back into their world and see how the famous chocolate did just that - become famous. We arrived at 2pm and were able to do chocolate tasting right away. Unfortunately, the chocolate lab classes weee already booked up. I would certainly do this again if I were back in the area.Plenty of parking near the museum.

We arrived in Hershey on Saturday for Labor Day weekend. Booking at the Hershey Lodge we recieved complementary tickets to the Gardens and Story Museum. After 3+ hours in the car, our toddler enjoyed being about to run around and play at Hershey Gardens for a few hours and walk around the museum while we waited for our room to be ready! The personalized token for listening to the stories was fun and interactive!

Nicole M — Google review

My boyfriend and I stopped here after finding out the Green Day concert was postponed. It's a smaller museum, but very informative. They give you a little token to scan at different displays that gives you information on the exhibit. There are some movies that they have playing as well. They also have chocolate tasting, which we were able to do and making your own chocolate bar, which we were not able to do. They also have some interactive touch screen games and a make your own wraper game.

The museum was fairly small and took under an hour to see it all. A little disappointing for $16.50. They only give you one rfid token per party to activate various stories around the museum. I would recommend buying 1 ticket at a time, so group members can explore separately. There was some interesting information about Milton Hershey's life, but I would have liked to see more about the chocolate factory.I am not sure if this museum is related to Hersheypark. They do not offer a discount for season pass holders. We went here and to the Hershey Gardens. With driving it took about 3 hours and cost $33 per person. I would recommend spending a few more dollars to get an extra day at the park, or exploring Harrisburg if you have had enough amusement park.

Water & Amusement Parks

Dutch Wonderland is an amusement park that is popular with families in Lancaster. It features a variety of rides and activities, including water slides and roller coasters.

This is a cute amusement park. There are plenty of fun rides for kids of different ages. We enjoyed some of the more low key attractions like the spinning tea cups and the train ride. We had all the food and games there. We visited on a super hot day, and the highlight of the trip was Duke's Lagoon. This is a huge outdoor water play / splash pad area.

We had a great time here this weekend! Not sure how crowded it is in the summer but everything was very bearable before memorial day. The kids even got to ride the coasters back to back! Def suited for kiddos 10 and under. Which was nice cuz there wasn't any rowdy teens hanging around.Park was clean. Kids had a blast

Dutch Wonderland located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania is about 3.5 stars. This park seems to be perfect for children up to about thirteen or so. Good for Birthday Celebrations or as a treat for good grades in School. All my children had a good time and the stand out ride according to them was the boat ride that climbs and splashes down. According to this adult the stand out rides were the motor cars and trains. The motor cars seem to be a newer ride while certain segments of the park is showing its age. A worthwhile stop in Lancaster for Children.

A great park to visit with Family. Kids of all ages can have fun rides. There are quite a few family rides as well. We loved the sky walk, family rides, rail, Show. Sometimes online offers discounted price tickets, parking is $22 or $27.50 (opposite to main entrance). Food options inside the park is not so great, I would expect more options considering this as a family park. Plenty ice cream options 😄! Visit is worth the money and is recommended

This place was absolutely perfect for our 5 year old and 7 year old boys. We got there when the park opened and stayed almost until closing. We were able to pack a cooler for lunch, and pop out to the parking lot with our hand stamps for a quick bite to eat, and then got right back to the rides and shows. There were hardly any wait times (maybe 3-4 minutes), and the boys rode many rides multiple times. The park was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we all had a wonderful day.

Great place for young kids, better than six flags if you ask me. Many rides, we didn't even have time to get on all of them, decent food inside, really a fun day for kids. The water park was packed, more packed than the rest of the park, and ride lines, probably 10 min wait, which is bearable. Totally recommend!

Gordana R — Google review

Perfect place for family fun with little kids! You can bring in a small cooler with some food, especially good, for those with specific food preferences. Most lines are usually running fast and efficient. Characters were great. They have a character show that is entertaining and the characters also come out to sing and dance with the children. Season passes, are great for local families, includes free parking for the season, and a certain number of free guest passes per card hold for the season. Which is great if you have family or friends that can tag along for the day. Clean, not too large, and good variety of attractions. Plenty of areas of shade. Wonderful throughout this different seasons (i.e. Easter, summer, Halloween).

I took my 5yo and 2 1/2yo there in early July. We had such a wonderful experience that I know we would come back some day.First as a busy family, I appreciated the fact that we can use our ticket any day within the year. We had a last minute travel plan changes and we couldn't go to the park the day we wanted to.Varieties - we have been to three other parks before but this takes the gold as to the inclusive of age and heights of kids. There is something for every young age. There was also so much to do and the lines were not terribly long, average wait time for us was 15min. Though there was a lot to do, the park wasn't awfully big. That is a good thing for young kids that are not in stroller and parents pushing stroller. We were not too exhausted to go on more rides. The water park was fantastic! Lots of seating area for everyone.

I love this place! Wonderful atmosphere, good shows, rides are a lot of fun. I had a blast. Couldn't recommend it enough. Keep an eye for deals, because they offer decent deals thoughout the year. Sadly, the only reason they aren't getting 5 stars is due to their concession stands. I was at 3 different stands and the teens/young adults running them didn't seem adequately prepared. For example, the Nathans Hotdog stand I had to get my money back because I ordered 2 hot dogs with NO LINE and 20 minutes later they I didn't get my order and everyone was walking around confused, while the hot dogs were sitting there clearly cooked and they acted like they didn't know when they'd be done. BUT it was good food and a good day! So definitely still come.

Preschool kids and toddlers will love this place! We came with our kids and my niece (ages 3, 4 and 6) and the kids were able to ride just about everything. Most lines were short, especially when the park first opened. The diving show was a hit! We also really enjoyed the log flume, it was the longest line but worth it. There were several options for food and the prices were reasonable. We all loved the fries from the potato patch! Everything was clean and organized. I think the entrance fee is a bit steep, but I would come back!

We really love our time as a family at Dutch Wonderland, my kids was super excited and had a blast! We had much fun with all the rides, it’s like a Disney park much little. We’ll definitely come back!

We Had a blast this weekend, there’s so much to do for the whole family! We will definitely be returning next year!!

It was our family of fours first visit. We entered very organized, no wait. We purchased tickets ahead, which worked well. The park was very clean. All staff very nice. My 9 year old twins had the best day. We can't wait to go back! The park is priced very well and there is so much to do in the area.We will definitely go back!

Sandra P — Google review

We came for the nostalgia factor and I was pleasantly surprised how well cared for the park was (my last time here was in the 90's) Great place for families and kids. Staff were nice. Some rides were closed with signs stating it was due to inclement weather but it was partly sunny all day 🤷‍♀️ The water area could be better but serves its purpose on a hot day.

Renee L — Google review

Had such a great time with the kids. It's Oct! So lots of Halloween fun, candy, and great rides! Had an amazing time. The staff were well trained on the rides and made sure people followed the rules! Very clean has a private nursing station for moms nursing. The season passes are well worth the price if you can go a couple of times! So far we went 5 times this year with our new passes!! An especially great employee was DAMION he was working the hot air balloons near the slides and twister! He was very knowledgeable and friendly! Did a great job inspecting everything!

You guys, if you’re looking for an adorable park to take your little ones to; THIS IS IT! Parking was quick, security to get in was fast, prices were decent for a theme park and the rides/events were absolutely precious. In my opinion this is a park great for kids 10 and under. The water area has so many interactive things to press so you can cool down on a hot summer day. We watched a cute little water performance/dive show about a princess and frogs and the frogs splash the kids which totally got my kids so excited. The park is nicely shaded throughout and strollers were easy to purchase as soon as you walked in. The mark is immaculately maintained! I just can’t rave about this place enough! On our way out, each kid got a toy for under $10 so everyone was happy! This place will be a summer tradition for the next few years.

Stephanie H — Google review

This is the perfect place for family fun with little kids! Perfect for children 3+. The food was not great. Prices for food are okay. Staff all around the park. Some friendly some not so much. Funnel cake and aunties Ann’s is the best part of the food lol you can bring in a small cooler with some food. Wish I would have done that instead to save some money. The rides are old and carnival like but overall great experience. Went on a Sunday and the lines were not bad at all. Most rides were open and operating. Water fountains throughout the park. 1 smoking area that was available if needed. The park could have been cleaner and more of an upkeep. Characters were great. Seemed to enjoy what they did. Purchased tickets online in advanced because it was cheaper than buying them at the door. Parking is 20$ so that is a little pricy when you’re paying 40+ for a ticket. Specially when it’s children rides and not adult rides. I would say 1 roller coaster is for adults the rest are for the kiddos. They have a character show that is entertaining and the characters also come out to sing and dance with the kids. I would recommend going and would go back

J C — Google review

Went for the first time with 3 adults and 4 kids and had a blast- kids ranging from 4 years old to 12 years old and there was something for everyone. Parking (even in the non-preferred) was very close to the entrance still and easy to navigate in and out of- although a little pricey in my opinion $20. The wait times on the rides were very reasonable and there is a great variety to choose from. At one point they even had a dance party with the dragon and princesses in costumes and a bubble machine! Although a lot of the concession stands sold your typical pretzels/ dippin dots/popcorn we did find some good spots (I’ll review those separately) but my fave was the pretzel at Penley’s Pub! I also liked how they scanned adults IDs and only allowed 4 alcoholic drinks per ID, no obnoxious drunks at the park that is geared to kids! We also had a baby with us that nurses and the nursing facility for moms was GREAT, very clean, had AC (nice break from outside), a changing station and two rooms with rocking chairs to nurse your baby! I was very impressed with the park overall and it was a nice way to spend the day!

Factory Tours

The Herr's Snack Factory Store is a visitor center that specializes in potato chips and other snacks. The family-owned business has been operating since 1946 and annually decorates their factory with beautiful Christmas lights. Highly recommend visiting to see the display! The chips are also delicious!

It was wonderful! Alyssa was our guide and said she had only worked there 4 months but she was amazing! She answered questions, the staff in the gift shop was nice. You got free fresh chips and 2 snack bags. Well worth the money and I’d definitely recommend to go if you have the chance.. they unfortunately don’t allow photos or videos on the tour tho.

Miranda’s M — Google review

Pretty interesting tour. They give you fresh chips to sample and wow they were still warm and really good. Also enjoyed seeing the pretzel assembly line and how they are made.

Joseph V — Google review

Worth the trip to see the factory tour and at the end get to taste fresh hot chips before they get packaged. Nothing taste better than fresh chips. Then you get a compliment bag of Herrs products at the exit which can vary. The gift shop has all kinds of products and they have discounted chips like you would find in an outlet store. There are Herr products that I never seen in any store. Tour is one hour and reservations are needed as the tours can sell out.

Howie A — Google review

I have always wanted to go to the Herr’s factory. It's a long 7 hour drive away even if we don't stop for breaks but we made it. It was hard to buy the tour tickets ahead of time because we weren't sure if we would make it. When we got there, they were about to start their last tour of the day and week and tickets were sold out. The workers asked the tour guide if they can take us and they did!! Everyone at the store/factory were so nice. The tour was interesting and informative. Definitely recommend. We went in December and they have their beautiful Christmas lights up outside free to explore. I'm glad to have visited at this time.

B L — Google review

What a neat place to see. The tour last about an hour and does require stairs and walking. The walking is well worth it. The price is cheap and my family really enjoyed it. Watching how everything is made and see the employees that enjoy their jobs make it even better. During the tour you will get fresh warm chips right off of the line. THEY ARE INCREDIBLE! After the tour they have a gift shop with lots of different flavors, as well as other Herr's stuff. Nothing is over priced, and the tour its self is really reasonable priced. This is definitely a place you want to stop and support.

Dru H — Google review

Our tour guide was Terry & Susie; they were great. The tour was very informative and interesting. I thought we get try samples of each snack we saw being freshly produced but it was only the original potato chips. We saw the pretzels, tortilla chips and potato chips. They showed us the packaging process as well. They definitely need water stations for guests. I went with family here for my bday and my sis mentioned to one of the staff at the gift shop that it was my bday and was told i can grab one thing and it’ll be free. We drove 2 hrs away to get here. I wish they were open on some weekends. I had to take off from work just so I can visit. Tickets get sold out fast since its only 15 person limit per timed slot. Also, I thought all the chips sold were all at a discounted prices but it was regular prices.

Franz Y — Google review

The tour was interesting. Our tour guide, Valerie was wonderful! She did a great job engaging the children on the tour, and was very friendly. She answered all our questions and was skilled at keeping everyone interested. I enjoyed the film in the beginning of the tour about the history of the family business. Of course, ending the tour with the fresh warm chips was the best part!

My family and I went yesterday to the Herr’s Snack Factory Tour and they had a blast. They were able to learn the history of the Herr Factory, the different types of food products that the company made, production QC, and packaging. It was very interactive and the samples they received were amazing. Ms. Tis was an excellent tour guide. Thank you for a wonderful visit.

Janet P — Google review

It was glaringly apparent that our tour guide, Emma, absolutely loved her job! She enthusiastically led us on a one hour tour where we ate hot potato chips that were mere potatoes 5 minutes prior to our sampling. The $8 ticketing fee, while also limiting the tour group size to 15, is well justified. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance! This tour proved much more dynamic and engaging than the Utz tour. I especially enjoyed watching the pretzels being made. This is a wonderful place to bring kids and out-of-town relatives. Allow time to browse the unique offerings in the Herr’s gift shop.

Joe B — Google review

I am not normally a chip loving lady, but after this tour, I had second thoughts. There is nothing quite like seeing a crispy and hot-off-the-assembly line-potato chip jump out of the production line and into a container that then goes right into your hands to consume! I got a chance to tour this place and my guide was George. He was great ! He really knew a lot about history and while we walked through I felt like I was in an episode of "how it's made" with a free sample at the end. the gift shop is small but a lot of fun on its own. Experiences like this made me realize how important it is for local manufacturing and production to be celebrated and supported by the community and the business in turn should support the community back. Herr's seems to know that and I hope they really do have a positive relationship with local families and their employees. the workers on the line looked like they were having fun : were all very safe and clean but people were actually talking and smiling while they worked which I think is a good sign. Anyway, this was long but in short, if you go here, you will have a renewed admiration for the assembly line, the safety and quality protocols, and the technology that goes into making our food a reality. You may think about that Old Bay Kettle Chip with a bit more respect than before.

We just had a wonderful tour of the Herr’s potato chip factory. Our guide was Valerie, and her knowledge and enthusiasm made it very memorable. My whole family including a 6- and 9-year-old had an absolute blast. Highly recommended!!!

Great experience! We went many years ago and it was a good experience all over again. Although the first two areas wasn’t working, the corn chips and pretzels. It was a disappointment to not be able to see it in the moment. However, they did have a close up video that showed and explained the process. Our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable when questions were asked. He was an older gentleman who use to work or was a manger at a food market. He did great and went in details to explain when the two first areas wasn’t working at the time. Great tour all the way and the fresh hot chips are the best!!!

Tanya — Google review

I did the tour in high school but didn't remember any of it. My husband and I went recently and it was so much fun, very educational. Our tour guide Emma did great. The fresh chips you get hot off the line were delicious. The little gift shop has something for everyone, but my favorite is the 'oops' section of snacks. I highly recommend a visit for a fun day trip with a beautiful scenic drive.

Kaitlyn S — Google review

We had such a fun time! Our tour guide Sue was kind and fun, the tour moved quickly enough that the kids didn’t get restless. It was a 90+ degrees summer day but we were only outside for brief intervals and the indoor seemed temperature controlled so we stayed a comfortable. Tasting fresh chips was definitely the highlight! We loved the gift shop and we picked up a couple “oops” bags of chips for a discount and went home munching. Great way to spend a summer vaca afternoon.

What a great tour at the herrs chip factory! Family oriented! Pretty inexpensive family fun day. Chips hot off the line! So insanely good! Our tour guide Alyssa was amazing! She Made the whole experience fun and enjoyable! Highly recommend going if you haven’t yet!

The Herr's Snack Factory Tour is fantastic! I had lots of fun learning how they make their different products such as pretzels, tortilla chips, and potato chips! At the end of the tour, they give the group potato chips hot and fresh off the production line! Additionally, the gift shop has a large variety of flavors of potato chips and other snacks! Would recommend!

From start to finish our trip was amazing!! The staff is super friendly and helpful through every step of the tour. The guides were amazing with their wealth of knowledge. No, question went unanswered, and every question was answered with a smile and even more information than we anticipated. Seeing every step of the process in making all the many amazing treats was so cool! This was an amazing field trip that we hope to do again in the future.

Very cool 1 hour tour, interesting Herr family history, plus how they make all their many different products. The highlight, tasting fresh hot potato chips, right off the factory floor, wow they are incredible 😋. No inside the factory pics allowed.

I did this tour when I was a kid roughly 30 years ago and I got the chance to come back as an adult. It was just as fun as I remembered and the warm, fresh chips at the end are such a bonus! Our tour guide, Nick, was awesome and so personable. It’s a really fun, inexpensive family activity.

This tour was wonderful. Valerie, our guide was so enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and fun. She was so good with the kids too. The people at the factory were friendly and waved as we came by. I would highly recommend this tour for kids and adults. You get free snacks at the end as well... So it's a win-win.

Concerts & Shows

Theaters

Sight & Sound Theatres is a faith-based performing arts theater that produces inspirational musicals with biblical themes. Their Lancaster County, PA location is only one of two theatres they own.

WE LOVE Sight and Sound! The facility is gorgeous, the workers are very friendly and the shows are heart-warming, and stupendous!! We've seen two of their annual shows and we can't wait for Daniel!! We will be back. Worth every dime!

Scott P — Google review

We went and watched Daniel! Wow!!! what an experience!! There is a lot of time and effort that goes into this show. It is phenomenal! The theater was packed, but it was a Saturday. We were blessed to be able to get tickets. Online said sold out, but we called, and they had a few tickets available. My 8 year old loved it! He was enthralled the whole time! We had an aisle seat, and soldiers and animals came down right next to him on their way up to the stage. We had a great time.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome experience I'm so happy that I came for my first time to see God's word come alive even more. The show was beautiful. I can't wait to come back!!!!!!! God's word is active and alive 💓

Quashawna W — Google review

We've been coming to this theater for at least 10 years, and have seen nearly all of their shows live during that time. While all of their shows are nothing short of spectacular, their presentation of "Noah" ten years ago truly stood out in our minds as setting the bar just that much higher. Quite honestly, you're not likely to see theatrical presentations of this type done with such a high level of performance, execution, and technological wizardry outside of a Sight & Sound Theater. And the biblical performances are scripted and presented in a way to make them easily understandable as well as entertaining. It wasn't until our most recent visit in August to see their presentation of "Daniel" that we experienced a show like no other show we've seen here. The set design, costuming, actor performances, and show execution have us believing that "Daniel" is THE show you must see. If you were able to see the "Daniel" live-performance show streamed to local theaters during the recent Labor Day holiday weekend, then you have some idea of what a live show at Sight & Sound is like. As good as that theater experience was, being here in person to see a live show takes that experience to an even higher level. As of early September, it looks like there are still select show dates available before the last presentation of "Daniel" on 12/31/24. Tickets purchased in advance are required for all shows. As other reviewers have commented, we've already purchased our tickets for the return of "Noah" in 2025 as seats were selling quickly and we didn't want to miss the return of that very memorable show. We're also bringing two family members who want to see that show for the very first time. If you have an opportunity to see a show at a Sight & Sound theater in the near future, take advantage of that. Either "Daniel" or "Noah" would be two very memorable experiences that I would highly recommend seeing.

Beautiful Architecture Is What Makes This Theatre Absolutely Gorgeous. The stage sets so colorful, engaging, and stunningly spectacular. The animals that are incorporated within the performance are so well trained, and wonderfully kept in terms of cleanliness and grooming, they flow so naturally within the creative theme, it is inspiring to experience. Definitely a 🌟🌟🌟🌟 professional two-and-a-half (including 20-minute intermission) production.

Always a five-star experience. My family visits PA specifically to see the productions that Sight & Sound showcases. We've seen Jesus, Moses, Queen Ester, and others. We are already planning to come next year to watch Noah.God bless the cast, crew, and all those who help add to the experience. The live animals are always a highlight to see. The set designs are Broadway quality. Keep Thriving 🌟

If you have not visited, I recommend you visit with your family and at least stay one night to rest in Pennsylvania. The work I came to see is Daniel's, a spectacular work, I assure you you will not regret it. One piece of advice buy your tickets in advance so that you get a good seat to enjoy your view.

I was blessed with a free ticket from a friend and greatly enjoyed my experience at Sight and Sound for the first time! We saw Daniel and the production was spectacular! From the acting, the animals, the set, added comedy, live vocal performance, and of course accuracy to the original story in the Bible, it’s definitely a production you want to catch before the year ends. I’m a Christian, but I think people of all backgrounds will enjoy this show and will experience first hand the beauty of God’s Word coming to life! I also recommend trying their glazed almonds! They kind of taste like little cinnamon buns!

We had such a wonderful time!We were not expecting to cried! This amazing shows was so vivid and beautiful. The cast members did everything right. The most impactful moments was the lions and the king transforming into a beast. WOW! Great job!Bathroom was so clean and they had a staff.

Going to Sight and Sound Theaters was a dream come true. It was spectacular! I think it’s way better than Broadway, and obviously Godly. From the sophisticatedly engineered stage, the songs, the costumes and the acting; everything is top notch and absolutely worth your time! We’re planning to go again this year and I can hardly wait. We saw Moses. In December we will be seeing Daniel! We’re very excited!

This was our first time to Sight and Sound. We saw Daniel and was blown away by the multimedia presentation. The talent of the actors and actresses was amazing. The sets were phenomenal and beautiful. We've already booked to go back next year and see Noah. I've tried to explain how wonderful our experience was but honestly it's beyond words. If you haven't been you need to go. It's better than anything I've ever seen before, including Broadway. We arrived about 2 hours early. Parking was super easy. The lobby was open and we enjoyed walking around, taking some pictures, (no pics or video allowed during the play), and had plenty of time to enjoy concessions and gift shop.

My family and I went to see Daniel, which was absolutely amazing! The acting, the scene changes, the songs, and the environment are extraordinary. 7 of us went, 6 adults and 1 child. We had front row seats, which made it seem like they were acting just for you.We can't wait til next year to see "Noah".

Saw Daniel and have to sayWOW!!! what an experience.I have never seen such an awesome live production. Actors were superb. The stage/props / animals were all simply amazing. Can't wait to see another show here.Facility easy to get to. Parking organized - and even with large crowds inside, everything very smooth.

Phenomenal show! The sets, voices, and special effects were wonderful. Staff and security were pleasant and added to the experience. Also, everyone in our group found at least one message to take away and learn from. (Daniel was playing this year, but I have seen several other shows in past years that would receive the same review - consistent excellence.) Side note: I recommend trying the roasted almonds.

I've been to Sight and Sound many times over many years and I always have a great time. The plays are phenomenal, staff is helpful and accommodating, there is souvenir shopping and snacks. Great place, l try to see every play....

Sight and Sound never fails to amaze me! They always have fantastic productions of stories in the Bible! You are surrounded on three sides by the stage, and it really makes you feel like you were there to witness the story! They also have live animals on stage! They have phenomenal sets and a very talented cast! Additionally, they sell freshly roasted glazed almonds right in the lobby, which are fantastic! I would definitely recommend Sight and Sound!

Marc K — Google review

I agree that the Sight and Sound theater company is far better than any Broadway shows in New York. It is a wow factor. I have seen a few of the production, and the story of Daniel was amazing. The production (lights, props, graphics, sound, that was a part of the musical Having live animals on the set brought their experiences to life. The singing was so melodious. They definitely brought the Bible to life. I love the song "There is none like Babylon, we are one." The highlight of the show was the invitation to share the plan of salvation. I highly recommend the music of Jesus, David, Joseph, and Noah. I can't get enough of these shows. The icing on the cake is embellishment on all you can eat eatery.

Hands down this is one of the best theaters and faith based production companies in the world! Their stage and audio system sounds amazing and their live productions from the Bible are beyond measure, highly recommend taking your kids and family to one of their shows, you won’t regret it.

Sensational!!! Saw "David," and it was captured perfectly. The graphics and artistry, physical and visual, unbelievable. Phenomenal experience. The facility is well-kept. The bathrooms are plentiful and clean. There's a cafe, and the pierces are decent. There are hot beverages and cold, treats and light fare. The 20min intermission is hardly enough, but staff do work diligently to get you through the lines. They start exactly on time, so really get there early. No blame, but we arrived at the door with tickets at 7:02PM, and we were kept out until 7:20PM. I was upset, but granted, we should have been early. Lesson learned. Next year is "Noah" so I'll be on time 😊.There's ample parking. Have fun.

Wildlife refuge

Nature & Parks

The Wolf Sanctuary of PA is a wildlife refuge that shelters rescued wolves from all over the country. The sanctuary provides guided tours with information about wolf conservation and biology. Visitors can track, rehabilitate, and treat these animals in their unique environment. On Full Moon nights, visitors can enjoy bonfires, live entertainment, and explore the sanctuary at their own pace.

We visited on a snowy, sunny day in January and had such a wonderful time! Our guide Starr was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and patiently answered questions from kids and adults alike. We got to see a lot of the wolves who were happily lazing about in the snow or showing off their latest treats, and learned about their individual histories, as well as the challenges faced by wolves in America and also by wolf-dog hybrids. I highly recommend the tour, and 100% of your ticket price goes to the organization. They do important rescue work and I'm happy to support it.A few details to note: Tours take place in all weather, so dress appropriately; you will be outside the entire time, unless you visit the gift shop after the tour. There is some paved parking, but most of it is in a field, at the top of a rather steep hill. In the snow this can be a little tricky if you don't have a vehicle that can handle it. There are no restrooms, only porta-potties on site. You will be on your feet for the whole tour and it's not handicap-accessible. But well worth it if you can make it!

Our son LOVES wolves, so this was a must-do on our list! Booking can be difficult as this place is very popular and sells out quickly. January, the calendar is posted. The first of every month, at 10am, more tours may be added. The guides are all volunteers, so it is based on their availability. I highly recommend a non-summer visit, as that is the best viewing seasons due to heat for the wolves. Our weather today was amazing! There are a total of 54. We chose the private tour, as we wanted the most time and exposure that you will not get with the public tour. Our guide was wonderful, knowledgeable, and full of information! There are some distant enclosures that you cannot see well but most of the enclosures you will walk past in the private tour. Our guide said the public tours are shorter and you don't see as much. We also had our tour just after feeding, which meant most of the wolves were right at the fence line. Our highlight was hearing the wolves howl not once, not twice, but THREE times!! It was the most breathtaking sound!!There are a few enclosures that they ask that you do not stop in front of. Please listen to them. They're volunteers and are there to show you a part of nature you will most likely not see anywhere else. There are reason they have rules. Be respectful. You need to wear good walking shoes as the ground is rocky and there is an incline at several points in the tour. Do not wear flip-flops, sandals, heels, etc., unless you are truly comfortable wearing them in a wooded and rocky area. The tour ends at a small, adorable gift shop. There are portable toilets only. They allow pictures, but not professional. No pets (completely understandable). Please read the do/don't on the website.Overall, the private tour was very informative. The sanctuary does a fantastic job taking care of the wolves, and you can tell they are passionate about what they do!Keep in mind, the Wolf Sanctuary is non-profit and is not eligible for most federal grants. They run on donations, fundraisers, and the tours. While they do make improvements, it's slow. If you've ever been a part of a non-profit, you completely understand. This is a wonderful, family-owned Sanctuary, and they do a tremendous job. Almost every guide and person there is volunteer. Ultimately, they exceeded our expectations. Keep in mind, we did a private tour, not public, so you will have a different experience with a different tour. But, for us, you don't want to pass up this experience. In fact, we plan on making this an annual visit, or every other year. We cannot wait to come back!!!

I give it 5 stars because the mission is honorable. They only take in rescue wolves now and do not breed their wolves. The tour guide I had was very knowledgeable. I went on a Saturday morning for a tour which started at 10am. Unfortunately some of the wolves were in distress due to the large tour groups passing by throughout the morning. It was definitely neat and an interesting experience to see wolves so up close with such a variety of different coats. Next time I know to come in the fall rather than the summer because all the shrubbery made it hard to see every wolf. Thought I should add, they have water offered throughout the tour. Also, the gift shop situation could use a little work. Only about 10 people can fit comfortably inside at a time. The items offered to be purchased didn’t seem well thought out. Basics like tshirts, mugs, and stuffed animals. I feel like their missing out on some profit there.

Very informative. The staff are very good at explaining all about the wolves and answering questions. The weather was very hot and humid, so less than ideal. A guide advised that late fall or winter is the best time to see many active wolves. Visitors walk over steep rough ground so be sure to wear good supportive shoes. Also I would not recommend to anyone not physically fit. They only have portable toilets for visitors. Nice gift shop is very small. Water is available along the tour route. The wolves are neutered/spayed,. You will not see any cubs. Highlight of my visit was right at the beginning when all the wolves howled together for several minutes. Lovely sound. Great experience.

My husband and I went on a public tour of the Wolf Sanctuary. I’m leaving five stars because the mission is incredible and our tour guide (Melissa) was VERY knowledgeable and gave us a wonderful tour. However, they kept emphasizing how much better private tours are. My husband and I had wanted a private tour however the only available times were at 7:00 am so we had to opt for a public tour.I even called first to see if another time could be accommodated and the woman I spoke to told me no and was very rude.If they want to emphasize private tours they need to offer them at better times. That said once there we had a wonderful experience.

The good: The enclosures are very clean and well thought out. The wolves and humans are kept safe. Staff were passionate about the Sanctuary and animals. They talked about the history of the property, general wolf facts, and stories about the wolves living there. Despite the heat, we saw wolves in each enclosure and even got a big group howl when an ambulance drove by the property. It was a fun outing to do once.Room for improvement:1.All of the double fencing along the walking path is shiny galvanized metal so it reflects the sun and reduces viewing into the enclosure and makes getting decent photos difficult. Painting the fencing along the tour path black would eliminate this issue.2. It would have cool to have skulls on display in the shop comparing a domestic dog, a wolf dog, and wolf since the tour talks a lot about Jaws and bite pressure... or a pelt that visitors could touch since understandably petting the wolves was not allowed and there was a lot of talk about their fur.

It was really neat to be able to go to the full moon event, and hear the information about wolves in general, and about their wolves in particular. The facilities for wolves were greatly taken care of, and the wolves themselves appeared to be in great shape and well taken care of. The general public areas are lovely and welcoming. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I hope to repeat in the future. 👍👍 two thumbs up from me 😊

I visited the sanctuary this week for my birthday. It has been on my "want-to-do" list for years and overall the visit was very nice and quite educational. The weather was perfect; saw several wolves. They care for a total of 53, but the public tour doesn't go for a very far walk and it only goes past a few of the enclosures. The guide told our group that the private tour is longer (and as a result, more expensive). I did get some very nice pictures of the ones I did see. Heard a few of them bark and some distant howling which was really cool.On my tour there were about 30 people. There was a guide in front and a guide at the rear making sure the group stayed together. At one point we were walking past an enclosure and the guide in front told us that we would be walking slowly past and not stopping because the wolves in that enclosure got stressed with bigger groups stopping. Several people, however, decided to stop at fence and try to take better pictures...at which point the guide in the back very sternly said, "as we said, we are NOT stopping here. Keep moving"!! A little abrupt, but I guess when you deal with large #'s of the public all day, every day, it gets tiring. One person in our group tried to monopolize the guides time and pepper her with questions as well as stories about other sanctuaries he visited, which didn't allow time for many others to ask questions. "There's one in every group, as they say".You need to wear good walking shoes as the ground is rocky and there is an incline at several points in the tour. The tour ends at a very small and pricey gift shop, and then you have to make the walk back up to the parking area where you met your guide to begin tour. There were people in my group who wore sandals, and one wore heels..and they complained about the walking conditions. Don't go in the woods in heels 😆The sanctuary does a fantastic job taking care of their wolves and you can tell they are passionate about what they do!

Absolutely loved our visit! We booked a private tour and were so glad that we did! The wolves are beautiful! It was just the four of us which really allowed for a very personal tour. Our tour guide Mandy was AMAZING!!!! Very friendly and personable. She took us to visit all of the packs and gave a history of every wolf as well as their personality traits. She gave a lot information about wolves in general as well as the history and mission of the sanctuary. She was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. She clearly has a love and affection for the wolves. We didn't feel rushed and were able to spend a good amount of time at each pack enclosure. We were impressed with the amount of space the packs have and how nice their enclosures are and how well they are taken care of. After the tour we were able to visit the gift shop and purchased some t-shirts. We all agreed that our visit was definitely the highlight of our vacation.

Attended the fundraiser. The tour guide was very knowledgeable with her tour content and answered our questions. I learned many new things about the wolves. We were in a group of about 30 to 35 people. The other groups had roughly the same amount of people. Stood waiting for a while for the group ahead of us to move. Wish we had more time to linger with wolves we did see. A few times they began to howl which was very enjoyable to listen to. The gift shop was very small and a little pricey. You had to wait in line to get in and to pay. Maybe they could make an addition onto it to make more room. We didn't have the bonfire because they said it had been too dry and not safe for the neighboring habitats, completely understandable. For the most part, it was an enjoyable experience. Not sure i'd do it again for the 90 minute drive.

I love that this place is dedicated to saving wolves. I loved the Sanctuary and the awesome volunteers. We need more people who care about animals and people. Keep up the good work and thank you to all the wonderful volunteers!

I had tickets in November and had a family emergency and they wouldn't refund me so I rebooked for last June on a Saturday night. This is literally the only reason why I came back to Lancaster, was for the wolves. My dumb luck a thunderstorm was looming. Also because it has been so hot and so dry there was not going to be a bonfire - bummer. All of those things happen, no fault of the sanctuary. Now on to the tour, I don't recall her name and she was nice and some feedback. It was a VERY large group, like 20+ people. some were slow walkers, which is fine, but the rest of us had to wait for EVERYONE to catch up before discussing the topics at hand. Also the tour guide was repetitive with a lot of things about the wolves, how they get the wolves, how they are fed, how they are paired etc. It got to a point where I started to walk ahead. The entire tour could have taken 15 minutes - 30 minutes to walk through. So maybe they were stretching it out for the sake of time. I didn't get to see that many wolves as I would have hoped, so that is another reason why I went off on my own. We ended up catching up to the other group so we had to stop and wait for that as well. We were allowed to take pictures but not record videos, which was another bummer. There was a point where all of the wolves were howling at once and I would have wanted to record that breathtaking sound of this magical species. Huge disappointment. That's when I realized we were at the end and just went off on my own.I went into the gift shop, which we were warned was very small, they had cute stuff. The only thing that interesting to me were the hoodie sweatshirts, I have a thing for them and get at least one or two. For my size in the colors I wanted there weren't that many common sizes, so I had to go a size smaller.Overall I'd say this is a one time thing, I was expecting and hoping for more. The pictures I included were the only 4 wolves I was able to see. Checked it off my bucket list at least.

Gosh theres so many great things to say! The geography is gorgeous, the wolves are adorable and the staff are very friendly.I have always loved wolves, and they are still my favorite animal. I have a whole army of wolf plushies(one is from this sactuary!), so my parents took me here to see real wolves. It may still be the best experince of my life. The wolves were beautiful, and my respect for them only grew after this trip. They rescue the wolves, of wolf dogs, from illegal situations. Many places dont allow owning wolves/wolfdogs, and they also treat them badly or dont know how to care for a wolf. The sanctuary rescues them and helps them live happy lives together. Each canine has their own story that the guides tell amazingly. Its so heartwarming to see the wolves be so happy after such tough times. If wolves are paired together, its so sweet to see them sleeping together, licking each other, and caring for each other. The staff is great. Our tour guide (im sorry I cant remember his name) was our tour guide both times! He recognized me the second time cuz I wore their shirt(*´ ˘ `*)Its always a great experience, and Vada was ny fav, shes the sweetest gal youll ever see <3If this place was a song, it would be Running With The Wolves by AURORA

Enjoyed our tours of the Wolf Sanctuary. We did the day tour (in the rain) and the full moon tour. There are more than 50 wolves on the site. The staff shared so much information about each wolf. The best part of the tour was when they were all howling at the same time.We did the day tour in the rain and the temp during the full moon tour was in the 30s so dress appropriately. We also stayed at the Speedwell Forge Bed and Breakfast that is on the same property.Highly recommended it.

Melinda was very knowledgeable and the tour was nicely paced. It was very hot outside so we only saw a few wolves.I liked how Melinda emphasized this is sanctuary about the wolves and the what the wolves need. Part of my hesitation to come here was because I am weary of sanctuaries and explotation of animals but actually here at the wolf sanctuary they take very good care of these animals and work hard to still hold tours while also accommodating for each individual wolfs' preferences and needs. (Some are more shy, some are comfortable around people, etc).

This place is heaven! Denny was our excellent tour guide and was very informative about the sanctuary and all the wolves and wolf dogs. I have volunteered at other sanctuaries in the past and was very impressed with the care and affection heaped on these animals. Hopefully a future volunteer.

I have visited this place annually with family and friends, and I absolutely love this Sanctuary! I stumbled upon it years ago, and fell completely in love with the Wolves & Staff. These Volunteers dedicate so much time to preserving these beautiful wolves and you can see how enthusiastic they are about Preserving and Saving these Majestical Creatures. They also offer free entry to military/le, which as a currently serving military member, was very thankful for. (If you are military/le, you can still make a donation for your entry.)The wolves are VERY well cared for and the facility is VERY well maintained. The Wolf Adoption Program is especially sweet. I adopted Solo years ago and did every year until her passing. I def miss seeing her running with her pack!

We went to the fundraiser they had last weekend. The wolves are well taken care of! It was really crowded....good for the fundraiser. Some staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, yelling, but I think it was the first time they had a big event... but id like to go back to learn more about the packs on a regular tour. But it is was a really nice day :)

I recently visited the Wolf Sanctuary over the weekend, and it was truly a remarkable experience. The weather was beautiful, setting the perfect backdrop for observing these majestic creatures. The wolves were out and about, making their presence known, which added an exciting element to the visit. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and provided insightful information about the wolves, patiently answering all our questions. Moreover, the sanctuary's dedication to protecting endangered wolves is commendable, and it's evident they're doing an exceptional job in their conservation efforts. Overall, it was an unforgettable day surrounded by nature's most fascinating predators.

Such a unique experience! My best girlfriend and I went towards the end of the pandemic for a little girls' trip for a full moon ceremony at the sanctuary. It's such a great learning experience for all ages and magical to see these incredible animals up close! I printed photos, bought a shirt, coloring book, and a prayer with all the wolf's names and photos for my children, I can't wait to go back to revisit for a family day trip! Absolutely recommend!

The Strasburg Rail Road is a tourist attraction located in Ronks, PA that offers rides on old-fashioned locomotive trains. The railway cuts across the Amish country, providing passengers with beautiful views while they travel.

This was so much fun and an absolutely beautiful ride. The people who work here and run the train were absolutely the greatest. The sites we saw we gorgeous and seeing how hard the farmers worked in the fields was truly amazing. It was such an incredibly hot day but they were out there working the fields. My son had a blast on this ride and the train was in such beautiful condition. I would love to ride this train again and even longer! It was such a great ride.

Wonderful nostalgic ride. I was lucky and the weather was fantastic on the day I visited, so I enjoyed a marvelous ride in one of the open air carriages. That also meant that combined with the steam whistle, most of the announcements on the train about historic and current details of the route got drowned out, but I won’t hold that against them (it was my choice to go for the open-air car after all). The ride is just long enough to see a bit of landscape and enjoy the old steam loco without overstaying its welcome. I had a wonderful time.

Ruby — Google review

This was a nice experience for the whole family. We got the coach tickets and the seats were pretty comfortable. It is a round trip (45 min) and it's also educational. It was really a smooth ride.

Liza K — Google review

Very fun train ride! We ordered tickets for the dinning car and enjoyed a nice lunch along the ride. Heads up, drinks are not included with the meals and they will charge you separately for drinks. However, you can bring your own drinks on the train. The lady that served us was very friendly and answered any questions we had. The ride was 45 minutes out and back; not too long or short.

Amanda C — Google review

Was super excited to try Strasburg. It had been on my must do list for some time. The train was quite nice. We were in a first class parlor car 88 which was not open air and had refreshment service as well as snacks. That was enjoyable. What I didn't like was I couldn't hear what the announcer was saying at all. The narrated tour was not heard. Unless you were seated right in the middle of the car it was impossible to hear. Also the ride isn't actually 45 minutes. You are on the train that long but there are times you are stopped. I guess that's protocol. It was enjoyable but not what I expected. On a side note if you have young children you may want to choose another car other than this one such as the open air. Parents of children in this car on that day were opening the windows for their children. Not a good idea and it hinders the enjoyment of the other guests on board.

We took the dining car and it was beautiful! You do receive your own private table. Drinks are separate so you have to pay for those. Our waitress was great and the food was ok. We got the beef n cheddar sandwich and the BBQ chicken. They were a little cold but not bad. Next time we will experience another car and catch lunch in the area afterwards. 45 minute ride through beautiful country land. We truly enjoyed it!

Michelle C — Google review

This was a great experience! We enjoyed the ride. It was a bit shorter than expected. I highly recommend the shop tour. They let you get up and close to the workshop tools and the projects. Would definitely recommend if you have time to go.

We got to the train station four minutes before we were supposed to board and they closed up shop and didn't let us on.We had to wait an hour till the next train which turned out to be fine. The train came right on time and we had no issue boarding. We sat in coach and the cars were nice and clean with comfortable couches. The worker by our cars name was Dylan and he was wonderful! He answered the children's questions and even agreed to take pictures with them .He worked very efficiently! The ride wasn't so long and had beautiful views but you don't get to see too much up close of Amish households. They have have a nice gift shop and a well stocked cafe where we bought drinks from. It's nice that they dont put too many people on a car so there is ample space for everyone. Its also nice that they have a audio explaining sights we pass .I would suggest not sitting in the first or last cars because the Smell of smoke from the conductors car is very strong and the sound from the horn is very very strong and it is sounded at every rail road crossing multiple times. It's also very cool to watch the conductor move his car from the front of the train to the back of the train by detaching himself from the first car and driving to the last car.We also got to see the Amtrak zooming by with passengers on it.All in all it was a wonderful experience for a relaxed trip to sight see in Lancaster county

Nechama G — Google review

This was a fun 45 minuter train ride, in a lounge car (those were the tickets I purchased). The attendant was very good, the conductor gave plenty of information that could be heard over the speakers. There was a nice gift shop and toy shop. Would recommend and would consider riding again if I'm in the area.

David G — Google review

The ride was nice, but at 45 min in length, it was over before you knew it. It is an out and back ride so you see the same scenery twice. We booked the wine and cheese car. It was a bit pricy for what you got. Not sure I would do it again.

I could give them 1,000 stars … love love love this place. We take all the kids in the family. First week back in school so we decided to go! 45 min train ride in the coach car - all to ourselves! The sweet Conductor Steve played us a Johnny cash song on his harmonica and he was the most adorable man ever. I will never forget. The photographer was a sweet man as well.

I remember coming here and to the museum across the road when I was little and it's fun to take my own kids now. We really enjoy the little shops and playground, just wish the train ride was longer. It's a great way to introduce young kids to train rides and now the kids can't wait to go on another one. The area is great and there are so many other things to do to make it a whole day trip.

Recently attended a A Day Out with Thomas event and we had a wonderful time. Highly recommend to anyone into trains. The Strasburg Railroad has nice historical passenger cars and the workers play their roles to perfection. They have a lot for kids to do as well. Hand crank rail cars, a small mini steam engine train for kids and parents, and a nice playground along with shops and food stations.

The narrative train ride was great. We rode in the dining car and had a satisfying meal. The train was well maintained, the staff pleasant and knowledgeable. The children and I enjoyed every part of the property and shops.

I brought my son down for the "Day Out With Thomas, and we had an absolutely wonderful day, I thought it was a very special thing they do for the kids. And as an adult there was still plenty to see and do to enjoy. I will DEFINITELY be coming back next year, hopefully sooner if I can get a sitter for the Halloween train ride

Such a great day with the family at the Strasburg Rail Road! We really enjoyed the train ride, I wish the speaker was a little louder in the open air car. This is a must do if you are in the area. We enjoyed the general store and toy shop. All amenities were clean and new. My 3 year old really enjoyed herself. We will definitely return!

Between myself, and a friend, we brought six kids on a ride in the dining car. It was the highlight of our trip!! The workers were so nice on and off the train and the facilities at the station were immaculate. The train itself was clean, cool, smelled nice, and was just a joy. We had kids ages 4-12 and all had a great time. The food was good and we have zero regrets. I highly recommend doing the train museum across the street. There is a play area with electric trains that was so fun.

It was great seeing this RR again after 14 years. The ride was short, but understandable. We rode in the parlor car. Very nice car and comfy. Going downhill with the steam was the main highlight for me. Plus, they have other things near by like the train museum, food, a small petting zoo and of course shopping. There's also a show program. But I think that's a little cheesy. Overall, this is still a nice experience after being open for like 60+ years. I would definitely go again.

While in Pennsylvania, we took our grandson to ride the steam train. It was a great ride and we all enjoyed it. We chose the open air to get a great view of the beautiful countryside. He loved seeing the steam, the train whistle, the conductors in uniform, and the switching of the engine from one end of the train to the other. A great experience!

We had a great time. The old steam engines are still amazing. We took the morning run and the weather was perfect before it got hot. We chose the open air car and we're glad we did. The ride takes you through open farm land with amazing views.

When I say this place is first class, I mean FIRST CLASS! We've been wanting to do zip lining for years and we decided that this summer was the time. From start to finish, the employees were polite, friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and the biggest for me, SAFE! I was very apprehensive for my child's safety. After the first line, I completely relaxed. Alex and Josh ROCKED! They explained everything and were very thorough. We will definitely be back and can't wait for the Christmas lights!

We’ve been here twice with our grandsons and have been so impressed with all the staff. They went out of their way to be helpful and courteous. I accidentally signed up for a zip line adventure that we couldn’t participate in and they refunded the extra I had paid and got us into the appropriate program. Our boys loved the obstacles and the zip lines. There are places to explore and a great playground. After we exhausted the events we paid for the boys enjoyed basketball, tether ball and the grounds.I highly recommend Refreshing Mountain!

This place is awesome! The zip lines, ropes course, climbing wall and other activities were perfect for my 11 and 6 year old boys. The diving board was spectacular and my kids had a blast on the slide. Looking forward to a second visit and doing more zip lines.

Fantastic fun! Our family of four, with 5 & 7yo, had a blast doing the Ascent Package. The two zip lines in that package were just enough along with the 4 obstacle courses in climbing adventure. The climbing wall was also great fun with different levels of challenge. We enjoyed racing each other on the pedal bikes and giving our try with the sling shots (takes more muscle than I thought!). The goats at the farm were so happy to have us pet them, and the reptiles were exciting to see.The staff were all so pleasant and encouraging. The cafe had nice food options at a good price (not overpriced like touristy places). Highly recommend this spot!!

What a fantastic evening we had at Refreshing Mountain! Went with friends (6 of us) and did one of the Escape Rooms. Theses rooms are well done and a lot of fun. My family and I came for the first time and we will definitely be back! Such a family friendly environment and lots of fun to do. Every employee was so welcoming, helpful, caring, and encouraging. My seven year old was scared to zip line and backed out last minute when we all went, then at the very end of the day he told us he was ready, so we asked if it was possible for us to go again, and without even thinking about it, the employees went out of their way to set up the zip line, just so he could face his fear! We will definitely be returning and will talk very highly about this place to those around us!

We really enjoyed our time at this family friendly pool. It was clean and well organized. They have nice chairs to use at pool side. The area to eat was well kept. The pool was kept clean. My 4 year really enjoyed the kiddy pool side with the sprinklers. We didn’t experience any type of rowdy horseplay in the pool to which my son was able to practice on learning to float and my 15 year old did learn to float. As my son played at the playground, I sat on the wooden swings and enjoyed the serenity of this place. May the good Lord continue to bless this place and the employees.

Great place!! We did the Adventure 1 ropes course & ziplining Christmas light special and it was so exciting! It was beautiful there in the dark and with all the Christmas lights, and the ropes course was thrilling. A bit scary at times but everything is very do-able and for all ages. And then they have a neat observation deck and a Christmas lights pathway. Great place for everyone and lots of fun!

We had a spectacular time celebrating my daughter’s birthday on the zip line and rope courses. Our guides Haley and Anika were reassuring, motivating, and gave us confidence that we were secured and safe as we battled our fears and conquered the course! It was as exhilarating and lots of fun!

Garden

Longwood Gardens boasts an extensive assortment of lively blooming gardens, a greenhouse and water fountain displays in addition to classes for students. Its breathtaking views are stunning all year long. Visitors can opt for a yearly membership after experiencing the beauty of this place firsthand. A one-time entry fee can be applied towards the annual subscription, which provides access to exceptional live music performances at their outdoor restaurant seating area.

Went here this spring and this past winter and loved it both times! Beautiful flowers, plants, fountains, and lights! A great place to take your family, boyfriend or girlfriend, or friends to spend quality time together and make lasting memories. They also had water shows both times I was there, and they were different each time. Definitely want to come back again when they have different plants and flowers in bloom and for upcoming events!

First time to Longwood Gardens... not my cup of tea, but I must say, it is a really nice manicured property. We were a party of ten, and we all had a fun time here making new memories together. This property is HUGE (almost 1,100 acres huge)! The map is nice, but I wish the signage or the map would have an image or description of what each of the sights are.Be prepared for a bit of walking, I walked over 10,000 steps and do bring some liquids to stay hydrated. The fountain show should not be missed. Ask for the schedule on the day that you visit. My favorite were the orchids, as you can see from my photos, they are beautiful. The tree house is another amazing structure and is great to hang out in so one can cool off a bit on a bright and sunny day.Parking lot (free) is huge, too. If you want a short walk to the Gardens, get here very early as it does fill up fast.

It is so beautiful. It is also very big. Even though there were several people there, many times it didn't feel like it because of how vast it was. My favorite was the Conservatory Gardens. Truly gorgeous. The staff were kind and helpful. The bathrooms in the conservatory were in a wall of plants. A fun kids area with water and plants. You cannot leave once you enter so don't forget anything in the car. Food was okay. They offer different options to accommodate allergies or preferences. I tried the cauliflower buffalo wrap with vegan ranch. I'm not vegan but it was pretty good. The Mac and cheese was really good.

The gardens are beautiful. They are a work of art. The combination of colors along some of the walking paths are spectacular. My hat is off to the people who designed the color scheme. Take time to visit the old pump house and read some of the history. Also take in the short film inside the home. Explains how this all started and how it will continue in the future. A new conservatory will open soon and looks incredible. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We went on a tour with Joanne and she was outstanding. No matter what time of year you visit you will find it to be a great experience. Also very peaceful and calming effect some of the gardens offer. Sit awhile and enjoy.

Sam S — Google review

Beautiful gardens! We enjoyed the fountain show and the home museum - there's also an informative film in the home. We enjoyed a lovely walk through the different areas of the garden!Don't bother with the gift shop, though - in my opinion, it's quite expensive and has very few unique items.

Cindy C — Google review

We got there early and got scooters and we explored the outdoors. My in laws loved it, there are still flowers outside but it was cold with the wind. Bring coats and blankets. We ate lunch and the mushroom soup is to die for. Then we went in the conservatory. The musical guys wanted to see the 10,000 pipe organ. We went to see the orchids. Oh and I got pictures of the Wood family in front of the Wood tree. Named after the man who discovered it. Gail did not want to leave the orchid room. Her phone died from taking pictures. Then we had chili dinner in bread bowls and finally we saw the lighted fountain show. It was sooo worth it.

Carol W — Google review

This was our second trip to Longwood Gardens. Both times we really enjoyed ourselves. We were a little concerned about the heat but there is plenty of shade and some indoor spaces. The fountain show was spectacular. Also really enjoyed the Idea area.

Mark S — Google review

Longwood is my favorite garden no matter what season. It has the most beautiful designed flower beds, amazing displays in the conservatory, and delightful fountain shows. At Christmas it is absolutely magical! One may spend the entire day there exploring all the different areas. The restrooms and every inch of the gardens is so clean. If you haven't visited Longwood Gardens yet, I suggest you go. You'll be glad you did.

Carol J — Google review

We've visited many times at various times of the year. It is always a wonderful visit. This time, we went to see the "through the roof" Century Plant. Even though it is summer the gardens are spectacular. The fountains are a treat. Not overly crowded. The food at the restaurant is always good, especially the mushroom soup. Always worth a visit.

Michael S — Google review

I've been coming to Longwood Gardens since I was a small child and I've always loved it. This trip wasn't as fun as some trips past with all the construction going on, but there's still so much to see and enjoy. Also the food in the dining hall was good.

Kate E — Google review

Exquisite gardens boasting seasonal favorites, fresh updates, pristine grounds, and a knowledgeable team. I have season passes and enjoy the beauty throughout all seasons including the orchids, mums, and holiday lights. The cafe offers an array of palatable foods, the mushroom soup is a favorite. There is something new to see and discover each time I go.

The Longwood Gardens is undoubtedly a dreamy destination that you cannot miss. Here, the art of horticulture reaches its peak, and the breathtaking garden designs leave every visitor feeling rejuvenated. As you step into the garden, the meticulously cared-for plants surround you, and it seems that each flower and each leaf has a story to tell. Strolling along the winding paths, every step reveals a vivid landscape that compels you to grab your camera and continuously capture those enchanting moments. In this sea of flowers, various blooms are thoughtfully labeled, allowing you to enjoy a visual feast while also learning rich plant knowledge, making you feel like a student of nature. Each plant boasts its unique characteristics, with vibrant colors and delightful fragrances that bring endless surprises. The indoor garden area is even more astonishing, where gardeners skillfully use a variety of plants to create different spatial atmospheres, making you feel as if you've entered a magical botanical kingdom. The air here is filled with a subtle floral scent, and you can quietly appreciate these carefully designed landscapes, feeling the allure of nature. As night falls, the 9:15 PM music fountain show will be the highlight of your visit. At that moment, the perfect fusion of water and fire, accompanied by delightful music, appears to present you with a soul-stirring spectacle. The fountain dances to the rhythm of the notes, resembling a magnificent fireworks display, where every splash of water creates ripples in your heart, leaving you with unforgettable memories. Longwood Gardens is truly a magical place that makes you want to linger.

Zhang C — Google review

Beautiful gardens and serene settings. Best visited on days when the weather is comfortable. I was not able to stay for the evening fountain show, but the daytime show was nice. It's nice that you are permitted to bring in water, but food item prices are quite expensive. There is plenty to see, probably too much to visit in just one day.

Marilu D — Google review

There is not enough that can said to explain the beauty of this wonderful place. Not only is it one of the most beautiful places I have seen in the U.S. but the cleanliness and upkeep is second to none. The Italian and French influences are abundant. We felt as if we were in Europe. If you plan to see the whole thing in one day bring your best walking shoes. It’s a bit overwhelming at how much there is to see. There is plenty of shade for those hot days. They have plenty of clean restrooms (family and private). They have a couple of options for dining. You can grab a quick bite or have an elegant sit down. Overall it’s a great place to spend a day and well worth the admission fee. They recommend purchasing tickets in advance on their website. The whole place is pretty much handicap accessible. They have free manual wheelchairs or you can rent a motorized scooter.

Fast F — Google review

My husband and I enjoyed the longwood gardens and took so many photos 👏👏 the water show was fantastic! It’s a breath of fresh air to be in nature. The place is well kept. It wasn’t too crowded on a Sunday afternoon.Sharon was an employee who spoke to us on our way out and she was fabulous in answering a few questions I had. I’m definitely getting our membership here to enjoy on our relaxed Sundays 💐🌲🌳

Shaneika — Google review

There are so many beautiful, colorful flowers here! There is also an amazing fountain show put to music that is shown every other hour. If you are someone who likes wildflowers, there is a nice meadow with a trail running through it. If you like the woods, there is a trail in the woods. Or if you'd rather be inside, there is plenty to see in the conservatory! All that to say, there is something for everyone!! They have some huge bells in a tower that chime the hour. You can climb part way up the tower, and watch a video about how the bells got there. There are restrooms strategically placed around so that you are never far from one. My favorite feature is the orchid room! They always have a big variety of all sizes and shapes of orchids. They have quite a few fountains scattered around surrounded by flowers. I would definitely recommend getting a membership! If you get a membership, you can enter as many times as you want for a year! You can get a membership for up to 9 people, plus two guests.

Michaela L — Google review

Glorious gardens that kept going and going with a wide variety of plant displays as well as beautiful fountains including a fantastic fountain show synchronized with music. Nice snack bar/restaurant area to cool down and have a bite. We spent 4 hours there and probably would have stayed longer but the heat and humidity was a bit much. Would highly recommend!

Diana G — Google review

Wonderful gardens! One of the best gardens in the world, in my opinion! It's a huge space, and they're constantly expanding and changing. This was my fourth time here and I keep finding new things to explore and see at these gardens. And there are some really beautiful views and great for taking pictures there. Lastly, it's very well maintained!

David N — Google review

Amazing experience! I've always wanted to visit and I'm so glad we took the opportunity to do so. It was hot and humid with some showers but that didn't dampen our experience. So much to see and getting a great workout in the meantime. The fountain show was great. Can't wait to go back and experience the new exhibit once its finished being built.

Erin C — Google review

This place is worth every penny! It’s huge and you can spend many hours here. Every part of it is beautiful and well-maintained. Staff are incredibly friendly. The gardens have plenty of seating at various places for those who need rest. The fountain show is an amazing display, I can’t wait to come back for an illuminated one!

Garden

The Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library is a picturesque estate with period rooms showcasing historic decorative arts. It boasts a 60-acre botanical garden that offers breathtaking views of colorful flora. Visitors can park for free on the premises and take a shuttle to explore the garden if they prefer not to walk. The main building houses a museum featuring numerous exquisitely crafted wall decorations and historical pieces that visitors can photograph but not videotape during guided tours.

Beautiful property! Great variety of flora to enjoy. Tom Stack gave us our tram tour of the gardens. It was informative and enjoyable. You step back in time during the house tour. The guides are knowledgeable answering any question asked. The galleries are filled with interesting exhibits. I can hardly wait to get back! Best day trip ever!

Vi M — Google review

This place is beautiful! There is so much to see from the grounds, to the ponds, the museum, library and the cafe at the visitors center. The stay are beyond nice and very knowledgeable about the history of the estate. The trams are very nice to get around the massive garden. The house (museum) is so beautiful inside. My favorite part was the Koi Ponds. I could have sat there all day. Carina was our driver for the tram and she was so friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back at a different time to see the flowers bloom!

Charlie R — Google review

Beautiful museum with a lot of people working that are knowledgeable about the history of the house, garden and it’s collections. The people are very friendly and the place is beautifully kept. Buy a ticket and it’s valid for two days. First day, walk around and enjoy everything, next day I suggest a picnic! My favorite spot is under the cherry tree. Also has a very beautiful gift shop with deals after the holidays.

Catalina N — Google review

Let me start by saying this place would get five stars if it weren't for the ticket price. I understand that money goes towards keeping the place how it is, but buying a ticket without the house tour should be possible. I say this because going around the garden and hiking should be a separate ticketed attraction. However, taking this matter out, this place is stunning. The gardens are well-preserved, and there is much to explore. You need at least a whole day to see every inch of the place. Use your hiking shoes as you will be doing lots of walking. Yet, there is always the option to take the bus, which will take you around with a narrated tour. The house is the low point of the tour, with little to see - I believe Nemours has a better home. Pass by the gift shop, which holds so many nice things.

Luana P — Google review

Talk about taking a step into history. This place is amazing. The grounds are gorgeous, even in winter and the buildings are so intriguing. If you love nature and also looking at some amazing architecture, this is your place. The staff here is very knowledgeable and they make it very easy to explore. Ton of parking. Take the tram ride for some great insights.

Don B — Google review

While at Winterthur one may enjoy touring the mansion, grounds, and visit the museum. The grounds are vast and there is a shuttle that runs from the Visitor Center to the museum and mansion throughout the day. There is also a shuttle that does a garden tour around the grounds and wooded areas. We enjoyed walking around different areas seeing the flowers in bloom. The Museum & Galleries house many items from duPont's collections. On the self-guided tour of the mansion one will see rooms on the fourth and fifth floors of the nine floor mansion. So pack a picnic and spend the day exploring.

Carol J — Google review

The museum and house are very interesting and worthwhile. There are different exhibits in the museum, some of which rotate theoughout the year. The house was decorated for Christmas this time of year which was great to see. Also, the gift shop has a large variety of gifts and items. The gardens and trails are expansive and beautiful. You will need a day pass, or season pass, to see the museum, house, trails, gardens, and gift shop.

Evan R — Google review

It’s hard to imagine a better place to spend an afternoon. The property is magnificently maintained. The gardens are stunning. The Enchanted Woods (fairy garden) is as mystifying and engaging for children as a trip to Disney World. The deep commitment of the people who manage the property, especially the shuttle drivers, was evident, and they spoke with great passion about the history of the estate. Even the cafe is standout with some of the most delicious Indian food we’ve had in awhile, but everything was very tasty. What an absolute gem. Our experience at Winterthur quite frankly took my breath away, as I was in awe of both the beauty of the estate, but also the care that has been taken to create something magical for everyone to enjoy.

KAMP P — Google review

We visited the house and gardens and had the More to Explore tour. It was around 75 min and explored the rest of the house (the standard tour only has access to 2 floors). The standard tour included 2 floors that had interactive components and guides that really made the experience in depth and had some contemporary artists contributing to the beauty of the house. The More to Explore tour was incredibly excellent and our guide Anne was an expert. She made the tour educational and answered all the questions we had on even the smallest object. This tour was completely worth it. We felt so special since we were the only two on the tour and could see duPont’s true collection with the benefit of a guide that could explain the time periods with such depth. The walk around the garden was such a wonderful one and we had fun exploring the grounds and in the Enchanted Forest.

Tori C — Google review

Naturalistic gardens here are wonderful. Lovely hardscape, children’s area, walking paths. Trees!!! Gorgeous trees. Lots of inspiration to bring home.Museum/house large, imposing, interesting, but overwhelming. Recommend taking additional tour in museum as well as garden tram. You can byo lunch into cafe seating area. There are free lockers in rest room area to store personal items so you need not return to parking area. Gift shop one of the nicest I’ve been in but expensive.Good walking shoes a must. At least one full day to see the scope.

J D — Google review

Amazing visit. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and kind. The grounds are beautiful!

Kalie S — Google review

We went to Winterhur on Thursday this week. We go there at least once every year because we live two hours away, but it's worth the trip.Winterthur is a lovely place to spend the day walking about in nature. The Winterthur Museum is filled with historic and decorative objects and is nicely setup. There are trams that will take visitors through the 60 acres of gardens, which is surrounded by nearly 1,000 acres of meadows, farmland, and waterways. There is also an area specifically designed for children called the Enchanted Woods. There are guided tours of the 175-room former home and gardens of Henry Francis du Pont. There is a cafeteria on-site, but we did not eat there, so we cannot comment. We bought our tickets at the door but there may be times when buying on-line might make sense.Winterthur is a lovely way to spend the day.

Paul T — Google review

Second visit here and my fave! You can tour the open areas of the home- currently the 4th and 5th floors. It’s insane what money buys. The home and the grounds are beautiful. Compared to Nemours manicured grounds, Winterthur is more natural and wild but planned look. They had extreme money here and you can see how they spent it. We came prior in two of the guided tours which were 100% worth the money! The self guided tour was nice as you are able to view the open areas at your own pace.

Stephen ( — Google review

One of the great mansion, gallery, garden and museum spots on the north east coast. Taking the tram and walking the paths were both wonderful. Enchanted Forest was lovely and looked fun for the littles. Great monthly guide to blooms and knowledgeable guides. Self guided house tour and galleries were lovey as was the gift shop. Will definitely be coming back.

Natasha H — Google review

Spectacular house and grounds. The size of the house is quite impressive and it is well maintained. You only walk through the fourth and fifth floors on the self guided tour but what you see is splendid. It is a collection of furniture that the du Pont owner collected during his life with the intent of turning it into a museum. There are staff in each room that are friendly and knowledgeable. There are a ton of paths to walk around in the property and there is also a museum with exhibits that rotate. Even the gift shop is impressive.

Jozef W — Google review

Around Christmas time it’s magical everywhere because of the decorations and festive feelings thus most of the museums look different and you can’t give ordinary reviews. I came to visit Winterhur Museum, Garden and Library on a rainy day and unfortunately I couldn’t walk around the property which is huge, so I used transfer bus that is provided free of charge. Right now the castle has exhibition dedicated to African-American designer Ann Lowe, her work presented in the gallery. It’s really a lot to see if you want to spend 2-3 hours here. This place is not so crowded as Longwood gardens (especially now Christmas time) so you can enjoy yourself wondering around.

Olga K — Google review

A must see if you are in the region particularly in Spring when the plethora of flora are on spectacular display. There are over half a million daffodils to relish and plentiful sweet viburnum, quince, Sargent Cherry, rhododendron and azalea to me a few.

Mac G — Google review

This can be an outdoor or indoor visit. If walking is an issue there is a bus to take you around the grounds and to the house. If you need to you can drop guests off at the entrance building then park your car. The grounds are lovely but it's also worth keeping an eye on special exhibits.

Lucy B — Google review

Winterthur is a day long visit and requires a lot of walking stairs and hills. You should be fit for it or do it over two days. If you drive there and have people who cannot walk a lot drive to the visitor center and drop them off. From there they can take the shuttle to the house. Parking lot is a bit far and is a bit of a challenging walk for people who can’t walk far and steadily to get to the visitor center where you must go first to check in whether or not you have tickets. Best way is buy general admission get there about 10:30 for the self guided house tour and a gallery tour on the upper floors of the house. Take the shuttle from the house to the cafe and Eat lunch take the shuttle back to the house and do the more to explore tour and the closer look tour. These enhance your visit and you get to see floors not available for general admission. If you want to tour the grounds then this is a two day tour. The guides are conservationist students and knowledgeable docents and well versed in the many artifacts kept in this house. This house only exists now as a repository for the collections of Henry DuPont. This is a terrific way to explore American collections of furniture and art and crafts. Well worth the price, do consider being a member if you have a family going and are buying the general admission tour the more to explore tour and the closer look tour. I strongly recommend both the More to Explore and Closer Look tours for the most rewarding visit.

J H — Google review

Wonderful place. Large grounds to walk or ride the tram. The driver was friendly and passable with knowledge. Beauty around every turn. The galleries are included in ticket price as are soup tourines, and tour of house. We spent 3 hours and could have spent more. Cool children's playground.

FirstEnergy Stadium, formerly known as Municipal Memorial Stadium, is the oldest park in the Eastern League and home to the Reading Phillies. With a seating capacity of 10,000, this classic minor league ballpark has been hosting baseball games for over 70 years. The stadium offers great views of the game and has received awards for its attendance levels. It's a perfect place for families to enjoy a fun night out with various activities for kids and adults alike.

It was fun getting together with our family and church community. Park was clean and well attended too. Good variety of food, drinks and sweets. Fireworks were great! Thank you!

Lisa G — Google review

Second time here, came for the Mega fireworks with my daughter. Ticket prices are still very reasonable. And the food is priced pretty good as well. It was SpongeBob theme night which was a bonus as well. The fireworks were great! I'll definitely be back for more Megaworks fireworks and theme nights.

Mike M — Google review

Great ballpark to take the family. Parking is free and tickets are super cheap, although I typically end up with free general admission tickets. They have lots to keep kids entertained during the game and throughout their concourse. You can take a stroller into the park and if you don’t need it the whole time you can leave it at guest services and pick it up at the end of the game.

Courtney R — Google review

Great AA baseball stadium. Plenty of nearby parking. Fun atmosphere just inside the gates before going into the seats. Food and drink areas, games for children and clean bathrooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. The ballpark did not a standard "cookie cutter" look. Unique seating areas and beyond the outfield fence had the look of being in an industrial area but in a good way. Fun evening and will certainly be back for more

Pete H — Google review

I attended my first game here with my husband and sons. They've all been there for games before, but I was happy to join this time. The stadium is very nice and the food and beverage options were great. My youngest son enjoyed the kids play area with a bounce house and inflatable slide. The fireworks show at the end of the night, was the perfect ending!

Amy R — Google review

I don't know why I haven't gone to a Fightin' Phils baseball game since I was a kid, but I've missed out! The baseball game was fun, there was plenty of food, and the drinks never stopped coming. We watched the fireworks after the game and had a blast. Time to create a new pastime.

Built in 1950, this is a great park to watch a game! It feels like a real ballpark, well maintained, lots of concessions with an old time feel. Walking by the first base line concessions look and feels like a midway boardwalk.Prices were reasonable. Jumbo hotdogs were tasty! Vendors walk around the stadium selling pretzels, crackerjacks, etc. lots for kids to do - there’s even a pool in the outfield.Walk around inside and you can read the history of the park on the walls. The ballpark is accessible, and everyone is very friendly and accommodating of any special needs. There are parking lots around the ballpark.

Classic Old School Minor League stadium. Fun, full of Phillies history.

Stephen H — Google review

What an awesome, wholesome evening we spent at First Energy Stadium watching the Reading Phillies! There were loads of families in attendance. All you had to do was observe the shining eyes of the little kids as they greeted mascots and Star Wars stormtroopers to know that core memories were being made! We chose to stop and eat a hoagie beforehand, as it's important to know that no outside food or beverages are allowed in the stadium. Between every inning there was a game or a contest to occupy. From boy scouts collecting trash, to a man selling 50/50 chances, to food vendors calling to the crowd, there was always something going on.To top it off, they had a fabulous fireworks show to celebrate the 4th of July! Great fun, and two tickets were only $24. Go, and bring the kids, you won't regret it!

Amanda ( — Google review

Great venue for a baseball game. Good food choices decent prices. Free parking close by. Every seat is a good view.

Ben G — Google review

A medium sized stadium with good amount seating capacity. We went there did minor Philly games. Lot of food stands and stalls , can able to accommodate the whole crowd with less amount in queue. Good food and prices are nominal for the stadium. Enough parking facility available around the stadium.

The Reading Fightin Phils fight opponents like I fight crime - fiercely. Visited “Baseballtown” USA to see the Fightins (Phillies AA team) play the Portland Flying Seadogs (Red Sox AA team). It was a special night - Batman Night! The entire team wore Batman Jerseys. The crazy hotdog vendor sang take me out to the ballgame in Batman’s voice. Their team store even personalized a BatmanJawn Fightins Jersey just for me. In the team store, I got my picture atop Rodrigo, the ostrich that the “crazy hotdog vendor” rides. One of the many highlights of the night. The stadium is beautiful. Weekend games are especially crowded. If you buy general admission tickets for an evening game, be sure to get there early and sit on the 3rd base side. That will keep the sun from burning your retinas like SupermanJawn. If you don't want to risk your car being hit by a fowl ball, park closer to the main road. The main entrance to the park will spit you out along the first base side. You can travel underneath the Grand strand to get as far as left field. A kiddie swimming pool in right field, brand new event center in center field, and all you can eat buffet in left field - what more could you ask for?Don't miss their MEGAblast fireworks shows, always a hit.Reading PA has had a baseball team since 1883 (before Batman existed) The stadium opened in 1951, and it has been the Phillies affiliate since 1967. Here's to many more years of Fightins baseball in Baseballtown, USA! Go Phils!

After being at 25+ Minor League ballpark this is my favorite. Great fans, tons of history, super atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

Bucs S — Google review

The game was great, they bring a lot of energy and great atmosphere. The fireworks after we're amazing and the only thing that would have made it better would have been if they turned off the bright advertisement sign that was in your face while watching them.

Jennifer Z — Google review

Our first experience was second to none. We had seats behind home plate and loved the spacious seating in an old school ballpark. We also loved to see the entire Phillies team walk out right field at the end of the game.

My daughter, my father-in-law and I all had a great time last night at the Reading Keystones game. A wonderful AA park with lots of activities for the kids and perfect views of the game. A good family night out for us would recommend to anyone who loves baseball or just wants to spend a good family night out.

Charles R — Google review

It was my first time. Embarrassing, because I've lived in Reading on and off throughout my life. I was shocked at the severely overpriced game shirts. 89.00 for an average quality stripped button down. I've found fave football jerseys, authentic NHL for about half that, and the quality is about average. It was very disappointing. Food was priced as expected for a sports arena. Nice place, just severely overpriced with the exception of a game ticket.

Okay, first of all, let me start off by explaining that my fiancé and I are our very outdoor enthusiast. We hunt and fish probably year round and yes, I know a lot of you are going to say you can't hunt year round, but that's not true. We're from South Carolina, our deer season opens. August the 15th and doesn't go out until January. The first we keep active game cameras year round in South Carolina, we're allowed to bait year round show when we're not in the woods, we're in the water fishing and this store is almost an outdoorsman's heaven. Very good staff, friendly, eager to help. Hey, we ended up with 2 new credit cards even ha ha. But a very clean, enjoyable atmosphere and the Taxidermist work was unbelievable We could have stayed there for hours and the bronze statue out front was awesome, and I would also like to give a Word of encouragement out to the young woman who helped us Julie. We had an excellent time and would look forward to being back again.God bless and have a blessed egg We had an excellent time and would look forward to being back again. God bless and have a blessed day.

This is by far the best outdoorman/ woman store. It has everything from apparel, ammo, activities for kids, informational displays, ponds to entertain kids and adults. So much information, and inventory its absolutely amazing! Love this place! And this location!

This place is like Mecca for any and all things outdoors by land or water (and perhaps even air since there is a bush plane hung up in the ceiling). Massive inventory for hunting, fishing, camping, etc. If you are into arrows, hooks or bullets, then this is your one-stop shop. Amazing wildlife displays, too, making it a worthwhile natural history museum in its own right. Helpful staff, clean bathrooms and filtered water station, too.

An absolutely massive hunting/fishing/sports store that has an incredible inventory. Be amazed by all the preserved animals on display. The sheer volume of this place is worth the visit. Be sure to go up to the 2nd floor for the view… and then head towards the back of the store to the old school shoutout arcade style game… that’s sure to please all the “kids”! Plenty of friendly staff available to answer all your questions and direct you where you need to go to find what you’re looking for!

Staff is great very helpful, the store is beautiful it's literally breathe taking when you first walk in, so much to look at. I wish there was one closer to me but it's worth the drive. Prices are good they do price match with online stores and the selection is vast. Tons of parking, and the pick up for large items is quick. Don't forget that beautiful scenery.

I don’t really have a need for any of the products in this store, but I still rarely leave empty handed. Thoroughly enjoy being able to take my little one here to kill some time. You basically get a free aquarium and zoo experience (even though most of the non-aquatic animals don’t move around very much). Spend some time and enjoy the outdoors in the comfort of an air conditioned building - leave with some beef jerky, candied nuts or a souvenir hat. Good times, for sure.

If you are interested in looking at some stuffed animals in real life, you found the right place! Cool fish aquarium as well. Can be highly educational for the children. I know I came here as a child years ago and was blown away by the animals. Now, as an adult, I cannot help but wonder how any of these were acquired. I can only hope by ethical methods. They’ve got anything you want for outdoor purposes, be it kayaks, fishing rods, tents. We quite enjoy the store. Nice parking lot too, quite spacious.

A beautifull place ,looks like a forest museum and antique Armory, also a breathtaking atmosphere and mountains view.Cabelas must charge at least $2dollars entrance,to keep the store going, and share $1dollar for the store ownership,,,$ 0.50cents for wild life contribution, and $0.50cents for store maintenance.thats my good concern.thanks Lonys de Haina

Awesome place to visit. We spent a few hours here, and still didn't see everything. It's a must go to place for any outdoors person, even if your outdoors is just to your grill in your backyard.

Sporting goods, clothing, household items... you can get it all here. There's too much to list. And, this is THE place for Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers!!! Prepare yourself for a day long shopping trip. You will have to see everything.

Hiking Outfitter, Light water craft store, Camping Store, Archery shop, Hunting And Fishing Expo, Gun Store, Outdoor Education Center, Natural History Museum, General Store, and Restaurant - even a little bit of a game store. This is unlike anything else - It’s Cabela’s. That’s really the only way to explain it. You definitely have to see this yourself. Highly recommend!

A great outdoors store with a wide variety of merchandise at reasonable prices. There are always clothing and shoes on clearance. They have an impressive display of record breaking taxidermied animals. Good selection of gifts, camping gear and hunting and fishing equipment. Good ammo selection.

Come here often with special needs adults I work with and everyone is always so friendly and helpful and never bat an eye at some of the things that can happen when working with the special needs community. We always take some group photos when there and employees have offered to take the pictures for us.The employees are definitely what make that place so awesome! So friendly!

A little too much with the greeters. I came in and there were like 4 people all greeting me and asking me if I was a club member and such ALL at once as soon as I walked in. I actually couldnt even figure out who was asking what because they all spoke at once. I felt rude but I ended up just saying “no” because I couldn’t figure out who I was addressing or who said what. Then I was said “ sorry but that was too many people at once”To which some of them at that point wouldn’t even make eye contact anymore and started acting awkward. I’m assuming they are being pressured by management to be more aggressive at the door and that is why they got awkward like that. ( I was in retail and sales my self I know how it can be). And if that’s the case I’d recommend management reconsider that. Being bombarded by multiple associates as soon as I step foot in a store like that was almost enough for me to turn around and leave. I’m sure there are other points in the transaction you can bring up your store card. Like when I just checked out with $200 worth of stuff. That would have been a more appropriate time to push a store card. ( I still wouldn’t have taken it but still)

We took our son for the first time and I’m just sorry it took this long to visit. What an incredible store for the outdoors person to even to just walk through. From the amazing aquarium to the mountain of taxidermy and the other spaces you can peruse through. My husband enjoyed the shooting gallery and was overwhelmed by the amount of hunting and fishing gear. From beginners to the extremely experienced you can find anything you need. And if you don’t fish or hunt there is a vast camping area, bird feeders, dog treats and delicious fudge!

An amazing store the size is incredible you can spend the whole day there. The display of indigenous fish is awesome beautiful aquariums an examples of local wildlife pretty awesome. They have a little bit of everything for everybody. They also have some pretty amazing deals on certain items. However if you're in the firearms they have just about everything you can think of the only problem is their prices are outrageous. Still an awesome store to go to.

Prices can be a little steep. But the selection of products is amazing. It is very easy to spend a couple hours in this store. The animal and fish displays are awesome. I wish there were more of these stores.
